Senior Instrumentation & Electrical Designer
The
Senior Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Designer
is responsible for supporting engineering and capital project teams through the development, coordination, and management of electrical and instrumentation design deliverables. This role facilitates design and drafting activities in accordance with company and industry standards to ensure the successful execution of facility, pipeline, and plant construction projects.
Senior-level experience in instrumentation and electrical design is required.
Key Responsibilities Design & Drafting Management
Facilitate project design and drafting activities in accordance with company and industry standards.
Assign electrical equipment and instrumentation tag numbers.
Assign conduit and cable numbers.
Resolve drawing development issues and coordinate revisions.
Implement drafting changes to record drawings.
Prepare and update engineering drawings including:
Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
Facility plot plans
Equipment and instrument lists
Provide design and drafting support for plant, pipeline, and facility construction projects.
Assist with preliminary design work for potential capital projects.
Project Coordination
Attend project meetings to understand scope, customer requirements, and project objectives.
Project scopes
Engineering and design scopes
Construction scopes of work
Coordinate distribution of design packages to stakeholders for review and input.
Support project teams in reviewing man-hour estimates and work schedules.
Communicate with vendors regarding material availability and pricing.
Perform material take-offs and create parts lists.
Develop material data sheets and requisitions for project manager approval.
Documentation & Standards
Maintain records of design documentation and technical correspondence throughout the project lifecycle.
Participate in the development and maintenance of company standard drawings.
Assist in developing specifications and procedures to improve design efficiency and reduce documentation costs.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Coordinate with project managers, engineering teams, purchasing agents, inspectors, and construction contractors regarding design drawings, materials, and construction requirements.
Work with project teams to ensure projects progress efficiently and align with design and logistical requirements.
Technical Support & Mentorship
Provide drafting support for daily operational needs and coordinate work with CADD operators.
Provide guidance and support to team members in utilizing departmental design tools and resources.
Maintain a high level of technical expertise in design and drafting technologies.
Additional Requirements
Ability to travel by air or automobile to facility sites as required.
Strong coordination, communication, and technical design skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
