Location : Onsite in Windsor, NJ Employment Status : Full Time | Direct Hire Compensation : $70,000 – $80,000 Annually + Bonus Travel : Up to 25% (overnight travel for customer meetings)

The Opportunity The
Sales Engineer
supports technical sales and proposal development for industrial automation and control system projects. This role works closely with Sales, Engineering, and Operations teams to develop technical estimates, prepare proposals, and support the transition of awarded projects into execution.
You will engage with clients, vendors, and internal teams to ensure solutions are scoped accurately, aligned with customer requirements, and positioned to deliver value. This role is ideal for individuals who combine technical knowledge with strong communication and organizational skills in a fast‑paced project environment.
What You’ll Do Core Responsibilities
Assist in preparing technical estimates and proposals for automation and control system projects
Review RFP documentation and help define project scope and technical requirements
Support proposal writing, technical documentation, and bid submissions
Coordinate RFIs during the bid process and track project documentation updates
Assist in developing subcontractor scopes of work and vendor RFQs
Evaluate and compare vendor and subcontractor proposals to ensure alignment with project specifications
Maintain proposal tracking logs and support sales reporting activities
Support risk assessment and project strategy development during the sales cycle
Participate in customer meetings, pre‑bid meetings, and site walkthroughs
Support Sales leads during client engagements and proposal presentations
Build professional relationships with trade partners, subcontractors, vendors, and key stakeholders
Maintain accurate records of client communications and project activity within the CRM system
Communicate project requirements and design intent clearly across internal teams
Quality, Safety & Process
Ensure proposals and technical documentation meet company quality standards
Maintain strong attention to detail when preparing estimates and technical materials
Support continuous improvement of estimating tools, templates, and internal processes
Promote safe, professional, and ethical business practices in all customer interactions
What We’re Looking For Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience)
0–2 years of experience in technical sales, automation, engineering, or industrial technology environments
Basic understanding of industrial automation, control systems, or engineering services preferred
Skills & Qualifications
Foundational knowledge of industrial automation systems, PLC/HMI architecture, and control system components
Ability to review and interpret technical documents including P&IDs, drawings, and specifications
Familiarity with proposal development, estimating processes, or bid coordination
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when managing technical documentation
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project documentation tools
Ability to manage multiple tasks and support concurrent project pursuits
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Professional presence when interacting with clients, vendors, and internal teams
Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast‑paced environment
