
Therapy Director

The Therapy Director provides clinical leadership, operational oversight, and strategic growth for all therapy services, including Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT), and Speech Therapy (ST). This role ensures therapy services are clinically appropriate, compliant, efficient, and financially responsible while supporting excellent patient outcomes and agency growth.
This is a hybrid role combining leadership responsibilities with direct patient care as needed. The Therapy Director provides discipline‑specific oversight, evaluates therapy staff, supports service line growth, assists with cost control, and actively participates in marketing and referral development, particularly with orthopedic and post‑acute partners.
Clinical Leadership & Oversight
Provides discipline‑specific clinical leadership for PT, OT, and ST services.
Ensures therapy plans of care are appropriate, evidence‑based, and aligned with physician orders.
Supports appropriate visit frequency, progression, and timely discharge.
Identifies clinical risks and escalates concerns appropriately.
Hybrid Clinical Care
Provides direct therapy services as needed to support continuity of care and coverage.
Balances billable clinical work with leadership and administrative duties.
Therapy Staff Evaluation & Development
Provides discipline‑specific evaluation of therapy staff.
Conducts clinical chart reviews and documentation audits.
Participates in annual performance evaluations.
Oversees onboarding, training, coaching, and competency development.
Compliance & Documentation
Ensures compliance with CMS, Medicare, and Medicare Advantage requirements.
Oversees timely completion of evaluations, reassessments, and discharges.
Supports audit readiness and denial prevention.
Budget Awareness & Cost Control
Monitors therapy supplies, staffing utilization, and visit frequency.
Prevents overspending related to excessive visits or inefficient staffing.
Collaborates with leadership to address utilization concerns.
Therapy Service Line Growth
Develops and enhances therapy service lines.
Standardizes treatment pathways and best practices.
Stays current on emerging therapy treatments and industry trends.
Marketing & Community Engagement
Actively participates in marketing and outreach efforts.
Attends conferences, workshops, and professional events.
Markets therapy services to orthopedic and referral partners.
Serves as a clinical ambassador for the organization.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration
Collaborates with nursing, intake, QA, and marketing teams.
Participates in interdisciplinary meetings and case conferences.
Qualifications Required:
Licensed PT
Active Missouri license
Minimum 3 years clinical therapy experience
Preferred:
Home health experience
Leadership or supervisory experience
Managed care / MA experience
