Key Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions
Role Focus
Primary responsibility for MRO and capital project purchasing Support procurement of equipment, facility improvement, and plant related operational needs Serve as backup to RIS onsite plant buyer when needed Provide support for package receiving and distribution to the plant when required Coordinate the new vendor approval and annual reapproval process for onsite contractors in partnership with EHS Maintains standard business hours and regular on-site presence
Computer-related: Performs duties/functions utilizing the organization’s ERP system (SAP Business One or related system) including, but not limited to:
Assist requisitioners in generated requests and provide system guidance as needed Create purchase orders (primarily PO’s, limited to RFP activity) Evaluate proposals to determine best overall value when applicable Track and expedite open purchase orders for the department Assists in creating inventory item master’s for repeat purchase items Assists in generating ad hoc reports for data analysis Any other system duties as assigned
Supply-Chain Management:
Assist in supporting the plant and engineering teams with sourcing needs as directed Assist in the identification and research of potential sources of supply when requested Assist in evaluating alternatives to support cost efficiency and operational effectiveness Assist in negotiations for contracts and agreements as directed by the Purchasing Manager Perform other purchasing-related duties as assigned
Interpersonal:
Treat vendors and customers with professionalism and respect Establish and maintain positive, fair and mutually beneficial partnerships with vendors Support and provide timely communications with internal customers Work closely with Accounts Payable to help facilitate the timely and accurate processing of invoices
Other duties as assigned
Understands RES’ ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) and assists with executing its objectives. Support safety and compliance standards in a heavy manufacturing environment
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or G.E.D. required; some college preferred Minimum three (3) years of purchasing or supply chain experience; some level of professional certification is preferred Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Experience in heavy manufacturing or industrial environments preferred Knowledge of MRO purchasing processes preferred Proficient in Microsoft Office applications Knowledge of SAP Business One or related ERP system preferred Basic understand of chemical purchasing preferred Able to prioritize and manage procurement requirements for multiple companies Able to follow and enforce corporate policies and procedures Must be willing and able to travel between facilities (vehicle required) Must maintain standard business hours and regular in office presence Strong communication and interpersonal skills Commitment to quality, safety, and professional standards Physical ability to meet job demands (lifting, bending, walking outdoors in plant environment, etc.) Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to safely perform the essential functions of the job.
