Position Title: Community Engagement Specialist

Compensation: $55,000-$65,000 FSLA/Position Type: Full-Time Exempt (Salary) Mid-Level

Reports to: Integrated Marketing Manager

Position Description:

This is a hybrid position located in Lansing, MI. Güd Marketing is seeking a creative, motivated relationship cultivator to join our team. This role focuses on building strategic partnerships and managing community and media outreach to expand the visibility and impact of our client partners programs and services.

This specialist will ensure campaigns extend beyond paid media into trusted community spaces — including community organizations, key events and sponsorships, social platforms, influencer networks and local and regional media outlets. They will play a key role in planning and executing integrating multi-platform communications strategies that build public trust, increase credibility, and amplify mission-driven messages.

This role requires someone who is energized by relationship building, culturally competent storytelling, and identifying opportunities where campaigns intersect with real-world communities. They will collaborate cross-functionally with strategy, creative, media and account teams to ensure paid, earned, shared and owned efforts align and reinforce one another.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties:

Build partnerships with grassroots organizations, community partners, advocacy groups, chambers, cultural institutions, and aligned stakeholders.

Develop strategic outreach plans that activate and extend communications campaigns through events, sponsorships, ambassador programs and community initiatives.

Create and disseminate earned and owned media content, social assets and email outreach to reach key audiences stakeholders across a variety of digital and social channels.

Monitor social conversations, trending topics, and audience sentiment across platforms to identify real-time opportunities for organic engagement, earned coverage, and campaign refinement.

Oversee influencer and creator relationships from recruitment through content coordination and performance tracking.

Track, analyze and report performance metrics to inform ongoing outreach and communications.

Maintain a vetted database of media, influencer, and community contacts.

Build and sustain trusted relationships with community partners, media professionals and influencers.

Plan and execute community outreach efforts and develop content to support such efforts.

Coordinate communications campaign implementation to seamlessly integrated paid, earned, shared and owned media channels and content.

Translate complex social impact topics into accessible, compelling stories for public audiences.

Manage multiple timelines and deliverables simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.

Track and interpret performance metrics to inform ongoing outreach and media strategy.

Ensure messaging is culturally competent, inclusive, and aligned with client goals.

Adapt quickly to emerging opportunities and shifting media environments.

Maintain organized systems and databases for media contacts, influencer partnerships, and outreach efforts.

Additional Skills & Knowledge:

Understanding of influencer marketing and digital creator ecosystems

Ability to identify media trends and adapt outreach strategies accordinglyStrong organizational and relationship management skills

Proficiency in media monitoring tools, reporting dashboards, and content management systems

Education & Professional Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field required

5-7 years of professional experience in community outreach, PR, earned media or integrated communications

Experience working in an agency environment preferred

Demonstrated understanding of how paid, earned, shared and owned media channels work together

Experience supporting mission-driven, nonprofit, or public-sector clients preferred

Hybrid remote/in-office with occasional travel for community events, strategic meetings, presentations, or media engagements.

Mileage reimbursed when applicable.
