Job Description As a bartender at 10 Barrel you are a brand representative, a beer educator and someone who wants to throw a party every shift! It’s your job to ensure that every guest at the bar feels welcomed, and well taken care of. As a bartender you should be able to speak confidently to guests about all beers on tap, all spirits and cocktails we offer, and all food menu items. As a bartender you are not only responsible for the guests at the bar but also all the drinks going out to the dining tables – it is up to you to ensure that all drinks are being poured with the proper technique, sold in the correct glassware, with the correct garnish, and taken to the table in an appropriate amount of time. As a bartender you are part of a larger bar team and to be successful you must be able to work as a team.
Duties
Stocking the bar in the morning and keeping it stocked through the day: liquor, juice, garnishes, glassware, plates, packaged beer, updated menus
Keep keg room clean and organized & change kegs as they run out
Greet guests within 45 second of sitting down (even if it’s just a “hello, I’ll be right with you”)
Engage with guest to find out what beer they want – offer tastes if they are unsure
Offer guests another beer BEFORE they are empty
Waiting on cocktail tables
Busing and cleaning tables and bar once patrons have left
Keeping track of all drinks from all guests
Start CC tabs for guests – especially during busier shifts
Keep updated tabs on bar top
Make all drink tickets – no drink tickets should take longer than 5 minutes
Double checking ID’s for guests who look underage
Watching for intoxicated people and taking necessary steps to cut them off and get them out of the bar and home safely
Do last call about 15 minutes before closing
Close out all tabs or transfer to next shift
Clean all bar surfaces, bottles, glassware and floor before clocking out
Write in the bar log of any incidents or changes for next shift
Qualifications
You must be at least 19 years old (per state law)
Be able to effectively communicate with others
Physical Standards: Must have the ability to remain stationary for long periods of up to four (4) hours in length; Must be able to safely reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
TIPS Certified
Possess a positive attitude and work well with other team members
Must be available to work between the hours of 10:00 am to 1:00 am
Must have the ability to handle money and operate a point-of-sale system
Be willing to follow direction and ask questions for clarification if needed
Be able to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment
Must possess qualities like adaptability, planning, problem solving, teamwork and multi-tasking
Must have above average drink knowledge of spirits, wine & beer and how to prepare cocktails from line-build to garnish
Is self-motivated, reliable, and able to work a flexible schedule
Pay $7.25 + the tips they make
This position includes competitive pay, weekly tip out, opportunity for benefits eligibility, shift meals, and $3 craft beers any time you are not on shift.
Shift/Availability
Must be able to work the weekend in full. Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday is a must in availability.
5 shifts a week available.
Minimum 2 years experience behind a full service bar and Pub.
