SUMMARY The Outreach Liaison supports the Greater Richmond Transit Company’s (GRTC) External & Government Affairs Department by coordinating and executing agency‑wide outreach efforts. This position serves as a central point of contact for organizing outreach activities, managing relationships with community stakeholders, and ensuring consistent representation of GRTC at events, meetings, and public‑facing engagements.

The Outreach Liaison works under the direction of the Director of External & Government Affairs and plays a key role in planning, organizing, and tracking outreach initiatives that advance GRTC’s organizational priorities, service awareness, and regional partnerships.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan, organize, and coordinate outreach activities on behalf of GRTC, including community events, meetings, forums, and agency‑hosted engagements.

Serve as a representative of GRTC at external meetings, events, and outreach opportunities as assigned.

Coordinate logistics for outreach efforts, including scheduling, materials, staffing needs, and follow‑up.

Maintain an organized outreach calendar and track agency participation across jurisdictions, organizations, and events.

Support collaboration with internal departments to align outreach efforts with service changes, initiatives, and organizational priorities.

Assist in developing outreach strategies and work plans under the guidance of the Director of External & Government Affairs.

Maintain records, contact lists, and documentation related to outreach activities and stakeholder engagement.

Prepare summaries, reports, and briefings related to outreach efforts, outcomes, and trends.

Respond to outreach‑related inquiries from community organizations, local partners, and external stakeholders.

Support special projects and initiatives related to public engagement, regional coordination, and community relations.

Education/ Experiences / Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in communications, public administration, political science, planning, marketing, or a related field preferred.

Experience in community outreach, public engagement, government affairs, communications, or a related field preferred.

Experience working with public agencies, nonprofits, or community‑based organizations is a plus.

Knowledge/ Skills / Abilities

Strong organizational and coordination skills with attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple outreach activities and deadlines simultaneously.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Comfort representing an organization in public and community settings.

Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with diverse stakeholders.

Familiarity with local government, community organizations, or public agencies preferred.

Ability to work independently while coordinating closely with leadership.

Proficiency with standard office software and scheduling tools.
