
Communications Specialist

Purpose
The Communication Specialist assists the Vice President Communications and Community Engagement through oversight and implementation of the SCC Communications Plan including overall project management for awareness campaigns, and implementation of communications strategies to amplify SCC’s brand and relationships through content creation for social media, print campaigns, promotional collateral, agency newsletters etc.
Description The Communication Specialist assists the Vice President Communications and Community Engagement through oversight and implementation of the SCC Communications Plan including overall project management for awareness campaigns, and implementation of communications strategies to amplify SCC’s brand and relationships through content creation for social media, print campaigns, promotional collateral, agency newsletters etc.
Key Responsibilities
Collaboratively assist with creation of formal agency communications plan for child welfare programs
Implement the SCC Communications Plan to ensure goals and objectives are reached as it relates to organizational branding, visibility, and awareness of SCC’s mission of child-welfare services.
Manage and update SCC’s editorial calendar to reflect the agency communication plan
Lead the ideation and implementation of communications strategies to help SCC to reach its goals
Create content for internal and external communications for all newsletters, social media, event collateral, etc.; work with internal and external audiences to create content
Preparation of PowerPoint and other presentations for community presentations for child welfare programs
Create graphic designs for internal and external digital and print materials for child welfare programs
Effectively use research and creativity to create social media content; manage social media accounts and interact with users.
Assist with creation of company style guide, ensuring that SCC produces high quality and error free copy
Research, evaluate, and project manage paid digital, print, television, and/or radio advertising campaigns to increase the visibility of the agency and child welfare programs
Provide monthly analytics report
Assist with content creation for donor packages, resources, proposals, collateral materials, and updating of SCC’s website
Assist with content creation for all development campaigns
Perform other duties as assigned
Education / Experience Must possess a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field. Experience and knowledge in copywriting, proofreading, and editing. Minimum 2 years’ professional experience. Work-related experience in nonprofit development a plus. Must have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Must be highly computer literate with capability in email, MS Office, and related business and communication tools. Must have meticulous attention to detail. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and complete projects by deadlines. Excellent work ethic, time management, and organizational skills. Experience in web design and content production, photo and video editing, and a portfolio of work for review is a plus.
