Responsible for preparing, classifying, and submitting accurate documentation to

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)

and other government agencies to facilitate the lawful import or export of goods.

Core Responsibilities

Documentation Preparation:

Review, prepare, and process import/export documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading.

Compliance & Classification:

Classify goods according to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTSUS), ensuring accurate duty/tax calculation and adherence to CBP regulations.

System Filing:

Submit entries through ACE (Automated Commercial Environment).

Handling Holds & Exams:

Manage customs holds, FDA/USDA exams, and respond to requests for information (e.g., CF28/CF29).

Coordination:

Liaise with clients, importers, foreign agents, and carriers to ensure smooth cargo release.

Qualifications & Skills

Technical Knowledge:

Strong understanding of U.S. Customs regulations, HTSUS, etc.

Software Proficiency:

Experience with brokerage software.

Attention to Detail:

High level of accuracy required to prevent fines and delays.

Communication:

Strong written and verbal skills for client and agent correspondence.
