Summary The Account Manager supports his/her account teams in their efforts to serve the clients’ needs in a responsive, efficient, effective and accurate manner. The account manager is responsible for helping develop and execute highly creative and effective marketing solutions for the client. This person will work with his/her account director and/or strategist as well as agency specialists to ensure that the clients’ needs are met by monitoring and guiding his/her internal team’s activities and by maintaining proactive, direct contact with his/her clients. The account manager will be the primary lead for certain portions of the client’s campaign and may serve as the client’s primary day‑to‑day contact for accounts where they serve as director. This position will support our Client Services group under our Sales team. It is eligible to work a hybrid schedule, generally requiring work in‑office and/or show‑site 2‑3 days per week. The ideal candidate will be located in DC.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Participate in and take notes for strategic meetings and all client meetings
Attend client events and perform research, press management, social media posting, photo/video art direction, etc. as needed
Communicate with client on assigned projects/tasks
When serving as account lead, act as primary liaison between agency and client, manage accounts autonomously and proactively address client needs.
When serving as account lead, draft recommended scopes of work and budgets for account strategist approval before going to the client
Collaborate with account and creative teams, as well as specialists, to execute results‑driven campaigns
Manage projects, with account director oversight when not serving as account lead, from client kickoff through internal copy and design to client delivery
Develop and maintain a working‑level understanding of assigned clients’ industries, company culture, products/services and strategic communication plan
Continually seek ways to add value to the client‑agency relationship
Perform a variety of duties to support the execution of campaigns which may include coordinating ad submissions and barter fulfillments, managing client’s social media communities, maintaining up‑to‑date website content, coordinating email deployment and conduct primary and secondary qualitative and quantitative research
Write project briefs and lead project kick‑off meetings as well as participate in creative concept development
Review all internal and client proofs to ensure brand and messaging consistency throughout campaign deliverables and evaluate copy and design to ensure they’re strategically on track
Monitor and report overall campaign performance (external) to ensure client goals are achieved
Create and submit invoices and POs
Open new projects and close completed projects in WMJ
When serving as account lead, lead (or participate in) the initial creation and weekly updates of the production schedule as well as lead the implementation of campaign tactics and timelines
When serving as account lead, monitor campaigns to ensure all mdg processes and procedures are followed by account team and all deliverables are high‑quality, on target, consistent, develop the campaign concept and are delivered on time and within budget
When serving as account lead, provide client and account strategist with weekly update emails including status of jobs in progress, updated production schedule and performance stats (as necessary)
When serving as account lead, provide weekly client reports to the circle leaders except for the first Friday of each month, send to ownership (with a cc to the circle leaders)
Mentor junior account team members
May assist in recruitment and supervision of interns
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred, High School Diploma or Equivalent with relevant work experience required
Minimum of 2 years of marketing experience is required. 3+ years marketing experience is strongly preferred.
Agency, B2B event and/or association experience preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in related field (in marketing, public relations, communications, psychology or general business) preferred.
