Summary Wake Electric is seeking a skilled Underground Distribution Foreman to lead underground construction and maintenance crews in the installation, repair, and inspection of our electric distribution system. This position plays a vital role in ensuring safety, reliability, and service quality for our members.

The Foreman works under the direction of the Construction Superintendent and oversees day-to-day field operations, ensuring compliance with OSHA, NESC, and RUS standards while promoting Wake Electric’s core values of safety, integrity, and member service.

Principal Duties

Supervise and coordinate underground line crews performing installation, maintenance, and repair of electric distribution systems

Conduct daily tailgate/prejob briefings and enforce Wake Electric’s safety standards and OSHA regulations

Plan work with the Construction Superintendent to support new construction, service upgrades, and maintenance projects

Perform and document inspections of all underground facilities, transformers, switchgears and secondary systems

Respond to outages, service requests, and emergency restoration events in a timely and professional manner

Operate and direct safe use of vehicles and heavy equipment; must possess valid CDL class A license

Train, mentor, and evaluate crew members to ensure technical proficiency and safety awareness

Complete timesheets, work orders, and material usage reports accurately and on schedule

Promote positive member relations and uphold the cooperative’s mission and values

May require irregular hours, on-call duty, and storm/emergency response, with potential to work long hours.

Maintain good housekeeping in all areas of scoped work

Ensure proper tagging and identifying of cables including how to identify mis marked cables, and skill to properly lockout/tagout and grounding procedures

Demonstrate proper tool calibration, and know the proper tools for each task

Operate any style bucket/digger derrick trucks etc. as well as operation of earth moving equipment (ie: Mini-EX, Back hoe etc) safely

Proficient with 3 way communications and communicating with dispatching operations during outages and understanding safe switching operations

Install/terminate and identify all phases of underground work including setting equipment, terminating elbows, splices, and dip pole terminations of both primary and secondary size wires including 1000kcmil primary to 1/0 tpx.
