Marketing Manager / Senior Marketing Manager - Portfolio, Thesis, Optimism, and Sentinel (Hybrid)
The Portfolio, Sentinel, Optimism, and Thesis imprints at Penguin Random House are seeking a dynamic and creative marketing professional. This role is ideal for a digitally savvy marketer with a passion for nonfiction storytelling, audience building, and innovative content creation. The position reports directly to the Director of Marketing and is a key member of our collaborative and driven team.
Responsibilities
Lead 7 to 10 full‑scale marketing campaigns annually, serving as the primary point of contact for authors and agents throughout the campaign cycle.
Cultivate strong author and agent relationships through proactive communication, clear strategic direction, and comprehensive performance reporting.
Develop and execute platform‑specific social media strategies across Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, and Facebook to drive audience growth, engagement, and sales.
Identify and define target audiences through market research and competitive analysis, translating insights into multi‑channel strategies spanning digital advertising, influencer partnerships, pre‑order promotion, and more.
Conceptualize, write, and oversee the production of digital marketing assets, including social and newsletter graphics, landing pages, and bonus content, managing timelines and cross‑functional approvals to ensure on‑time delivery.
Manage and optimize digital advertising campaigns, monitor performance metrics and adjust strategy to maximize ROI.
Collaborate with the broader marketing team to develop and execute imprint‑level brand marketing initiatives, including generating ideas for imprint‑owned social channels and leading creative campaigns to increase brand awareness and audience growth.
Qualifications
Minimum of 4 years of marketing experience; book publishing experience strongly preferred.
Genuine interest in nonfiction publishing, especially in business, politics, current events, history, and psychology categories.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Collaborative spirit and desire to learn and grow in the position.
Very strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to multitask, prioritize projects, manage time effectively, and keep projects moving independently.
Ability to think strategically and creatively about each unique project.
Interest in exploring new trends, audiences, platforms, and tools, and testing new tactics for reaching readers.
Experience running digital ads.
Salary:
$73,500
for Marketing Manager;
$80,000
for Senior Marketing Manager. All positions are eligible for an annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results.
Hybrid position with in‑office responsibilities. Candidates may work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, including the tri‑state area (NJ, CT, & PA).
