Job Overview This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of high-quality continuing education and workforce training programs that support lifelong learning, professional advancement, and community engagement. As an Instructional Designer, you will collaborate with faculty, subject matter experts, and external partners to design engaging online and hybrid learning experiences for FSU’s growing professional and continuing education portfolio. Working within the Office of Digital Learning & Academic Technology (ODLAT), you will help ensure that courses, certificates, and micro-credentials are thoughtfully designed, accessible, and aligned with nationally recognized quality frameworks and adult learning principles.

In this role, you will provide guidance on course structure, learning objectives, assessment strategies, and instructional technologies to support effective and engaging learning experiences. You will also assist in developing training resources and workshops for instructors and partners, helping to promote best practices in online pedagogy, accessibility, and digital learning design.

This position also contributes to the integration of innovative tools and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, to enhance course design, student engagement, and learning outcomes across FSU Learn programs.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborating with instructors, subject matter experts, and program partners to design and develop high-quality online and hybrid continuing education courses.

Supporting the creation of certificates, micro-credentials, and workforce-aligned learning experiences.

Providing course design consultation to ensure alignment between learning objectives, instructional activities, and assessments.

Promoting accessibility, usability, and engagement through the application of instructional design best practices and nationally recognized quality frameworks.

Delivering training, consultations, and instructional resources for faculty and partners on course design, online pedagogy, and instructional technologies.

Advising on the effective use of digital learning tools, including AI-supported instructional technologies, within the Canvas learning management system and related platforms.

Qualifications Master's degree or a Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education or other appropriate degree and two years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience developing or supporting courses in the Canvas LMS.

Experience with instructional design tools such as CidiLabs, Articulate, multimedia authoring tools, or similar applications.

Familiarity with micro-credentialing, badging systems, and/or digital credential frameworks.

Knowledge of accessibility standards and universal design for learning principles.

Experience incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and strategies into course design, instructional activities, feedback systems, or student engagement approaches.

Additional Information The ideal candidate will have experience in instructional design, online learning development, or educational technology, along with a strong understanding of adult learning principles and digital pedagogy. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong collaboration skills, a commitment to innovation in teaching and learning, and a passion for expanding access to high-quality continuing education.
