Closing Date: 03/01/2026 JOB GOAL: The Director of Special Education and Student Services is responsible for organizing and administering all staff and activities related to special education coordination and The Student Services Center (Guidance).
REPORTS TO: Administrative Director
QUALIFICATIONS: 3-5 years of special education supervisory experience PA Supervisor Special Education PK-12 certification Masters Degree or Doctorate preferred Collaborative Act 93 team member PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises all Special Education staff and activities. Assists administration in the recruitment and assignment of all Special Education and Student Services personnel. Attends and participates in all meetings of the Joint Operating Committee. Responsible to ensure that all "procedural safeguards" are in compliance and current with all federal and state special education regulations. Maintains accurate, current records and files for pupils seen for special education services, including tracking procedures. Responsible to update all teachers, tutors, paraprofessionals, and administrators as to the current laws and regulations regarding Special Education. Supervises and assists the special education staff in developing programs to meet the transition needs of students ,
including serving as the Transition Coordinator for special education students. Supervises and participates in all Special Education meetings with parents/guardians, staff members, and agency representatives. Responsible for completing IEPs on all newly selected special education students. Responsible for overseeing the scheduling of ER and IEP conferences for special education students. Responsible for running IEP conferences. Directly responsible for the referral process to district special education supervisors/school psychologists. Serves as transition representative on the Columbia-Montour Transition Clinic Committee. Responsible for completing forms and teaming Columbia-Montour AVTS special education students with this committee. Attends monthly special education supervisory meetings at CSIU ,
when possible. Serves as Local Education Agency representative for Columbia-Montour AVTS when dealing with Special Education issues. Supervise and approve referrals within the school and to outside agencies. Serve as the School's 504 Coordinator. Required member of the Perkins Participatory Planning Committee regarding federal funding of services provided to special needs students. Supervise the operation of guidance, placement, and outreach programs, including the daily operation of the Student Services Center. Supervise the development and implementation of a total guidance delivery system for all students. This includes personnel and group counseling, maintenance of vocational information files, college information files, placement and co-op programs, follow-up surveys, and other services necessary to assist students in the decision-making process. Conduct monthly meetings with the staff of Student Services, in regards to job descriptions. Serve as a member of an Administrative Team which participates in the development and implementation process of orientation, recruitment, and selection of prospective enrollees. Works closely with home school district counselors and others in the operation of this process. Performs other duties that may be assigned by the Administrative Director.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and length of term of employment as determined by the Joint Operating Committee.
