Job Description We're seeking a creative and detail-oriented UI/UX Designer to contribute to our Web Portal, Tablet & Mobile applications, and branding. This role is dedicated to delivering appealing visual styles, intuitive interaction patterns, and an exceptional user experience. The ideal candidate will apply design principles thoughtfully and flexibly for both prescriptive and ambiguous use cases, measure usability with customers, and work collaboratively with peers in different roles, teams, and timezones to deliver innovative software‑defined products.

Key Responsibilities

Own creation and cohesion of visual styles and components for burgeoning design system

Measure usability with team experts and customers to validate design decisions

Draft wireframes, storyboards, and prototypes for desktop and mobile web apps

Partner with product managers and engineers to deliver intuitive, seamless user experiences

Contribute to and maintain design system styles and libraries in Figma

Deliver user experience consistency between platforms and viewport sizes

Diverge from design patterns deliberately and with conviction when it's best for customers

Solicit reactions, requirements and recommendations from team experts and customers to improve how our UI looks & works

Challenge & improve the practice of Design with prevailing patterns, trends, and AI techniques

Document design and implementation decisions to maximize visibility, coherence, and actionability

Qualifications (Preferred)

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or applicable discipline

Proven experience as a UI/UX Designer with a portfolio showcasing work for web applications and mobile apps, especially complex visuospatial user interfaces, digital maps and time series

Proficiency with Figma components, libraries, variables, and design systems

Familiarity with AI-aided prototyping

Discerning application of usability and accessibility principles

Proficiency with user research and design validation, e.g. surveys and usability testing

Capable problem-solver, attention to detail, anticipate questions & compromises

Communicate succinctly to build consensus while capable to present & elaborate design decisions for large audiences

Work Environment

This role is located in the Washington, D.C. area with a team spanning the globe

Online communication & collaboration includes Slack and Notion
