Director of Interior Design | Chicago, IL Working Style : In-office This is an exciting opportunity for a collaborative and visionary Director of Interior Design to join an established, high-end residential design firm known for delivering highly personalized, exceptional work. This role is ideal for a senior design leader who thrives on building, mentoring, and inspiring teams while shaping the overall creative direction of the studio. The firm values a positive, collaborative culture and is seeking a leader who will elevate both people and process while maintaining the highest design standards. In this role, the Director of Interior Design will provide strategic and creative leadership across multiple projects and teams. You will partner closely with the Principal to define and uphold the firm’s design vision, ensure design excellence across all work, and foster a strong studio culture. The Director of Interior Design will oversee project teams from concept through installation, guide design development, and serve as a key point of escalation for clients and internal stakeholders. This position requires a balance of hands‑on design leadership, people management, and operational oversight. Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and develop the design team, setting clear expectations, providing ongoing feedback, and supporting career growth Establish and uphold the firm’s design vision, standards, and processes in partnership with the Principal Oversee design direction and quality across all projects, ensuring consistency and excellence from concept through installation Allocate resources, structure project teams, and ensure workloads, schedules, and deliverables are aligned Guide and support Senior Designers in leading client relationships, presentations, and project execution Identify and resolve high-level client, team, and project challenges proactively Foster a collaborative, high-performance studio culture rooted in creativity, accountability, and professional growth Ensure documentation, construction sets, and deliverables meet firm standards and best practices Represent the firm externally with clients, consultants, and vendors at a leadership level Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design from an accredited program 15+ years of experience in high-end residential design, with significant experience leading and managing design teams Proven track record of building, mentoring, and scaling creative teams Expertise in AutoCAD, Studio Designer, and Adobe programs Exceptional communication, presentation, and leadership skills Deep knowledge of luxury residential vendors, consultants, and construction processes Strong organizational, strategic planning, and problem‑solving abilities Ability to operate effectively at both strategic and hands‑on levels Valid U.S. Driver’s License required For immediate review and consideration, contact: Jordan Kravetzky – Jordan@InteriorTalent.com
