Role Summary The AVP, Capital Strategy & Investment (CS&I) plays a key role in executing CPC’s capitalization strategy, enabling scalable growth across its lending platforms while supporting disciplined capital deployment and strong institutional partnerships. The role is responsible for owning and executing CPC’s Participations Desk. Responsibilities include originating and structuring construction loan participations, partnering with origination teams to align deals with capital partners, and managing execution from approval through closing, including term sheets, legal negotiations, and funding mechanics, in coordination with Accounting, Legal, and Loan Servicing. In addition to this execution-focused mandate, the role plays an integral role in CPC’s broader capital strategy efforts, serving as a core contributor in driving firmwide capital planning, structuring, and strategic initiatives to promote growth for CPC and impact on the communities we serve.
The AVP will work with the Head of Capital Strategy & Investment and other senior leaders to vision and execute CPC’s appropriate capitalization structure while contributing to the development of CPC’s strategic financial plan and the creation of short- and long-term capital initiatives aligned with those plans.
What You’ll Do
Lead the CPC Participations Desk by originating and structuring construction loan participations, sourcing and managing institutional participant relationships, positioning CPC’s construction loan platform, aligning investor criteria with eligible loans, and guiding participant diligence through credit approval.
Partner closely with CPC’s construction loan origination teams to maintain real-time visibility into the pipeline, identify participation opportunities, and proactively match deals with appropriate capital partners.
Own participation execution from approval through close, including term sheets, coordinating and negotiating legal documentation, managing closing and funding mechanics, and ensuring accurate system setup across CPC platforms in collaboration with Finance, Legal, and Loan Servicing.
Collaborate with the CS&I Team and CPC leadership to ensure CPC capitalization is optimal and capital is available.
Monitor market conditions and gather internal and external data to develop and maintain financial models that inform capital structuring, pricing, and deployment decisions across CPC’s lending and investment platforms, ensuring CPC products and structures remain competitive and aligned with evolving market dynamics.
Inform capital sourcing and evaluation efforts through relationship-building with capital providers and industry thought leaders and by conducting thorough qualitative and quantitative due diligence on prospective opportunities.
Work with CPC’s businesses on various project-based initiatives while ensuring alignment with CPC’s corporate goals for capital allocation, revenue generation, and business growth.
Support investor engagement and execution activities, including investor due diligence, development of fundraising and ongoing reporting materials, coordination of legal documentation and negotiations, and partnership with CPC business leads on strategic capital and balance-sheet initiatives.
Prepare Capital Allocation and Investment Committee, and Board-level materials, as well as ad hoc strategic presentations for senior leadership.
Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or Real Estate is strongly preferred
5+ years of relevant experience in real estate finance, structured finance, capital markets, or a related institutional investing or lending environment
Experience supporting capital markets execution and investor engagement, including familiarity with loan trading, securitization, agency lending, or similar platforms (Fannie Mae, Ginnie Mae experience a plus)
Proven communication skills and ability to prepare high-quality PPTX materials for senior leadership, investment committees, and external investors, including presentations, analyses, and written recommendations
High level of financial modeling and analytical proficiency, with the ability to synthesize complex data into clear insights and recommendations
Strong communication, organizational, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with external partners
Self-directed, detail-oriented professional with sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work collaboratively and independently
Joint and cooperative approach to problem solving

This is a hybrid role where you will work from the Manhattan office two – three days a week. The salary range is $125,000 – $140,000, dependent on experience.
