Nature and Scope

DASNY is New York State’s capital development authority and provides financing and construction services to public and private universities, not-for-profit healthcare facilities, and other institutions that serve the public good. DASNY is composed of five major divisions: Construction, Counsel’s Office, Executive Direction, Finance, and Public Finance & Portfolio Monitoring. The student intern is a part of the Executive Direction Division.

Primary Purpose

Under the supervision of the Director, Strategic Communication & Business Development, the student intern will assist in strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, market research, and public policy analysis.

Essential Functions

Assist with market research and analysis to support business development initiatives, external partnerships, and identification of industry trends and emerging opportunities.

Monitor legislative and policy developments that impact DASNY’s operations and business development activities.

Prepare reports, presentations, and briefing materials, and assist with data tracking and spreadsheet maintenance to support business development and outreach efforts.

Help coordinate outreach efforts with key stakeholders and partners.

Perform administrative tasks to support the team’s initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be a matriculated undergraduate (Freshman level or above) or graduate college student working toward a degree in Business, Political Science, Public Administration, or a related field.

Strong research, writing, and analytical skills

Interest in government affairs, public policy, and business development

Excellent communication and organizational abilities

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
