Class Summary
As a key leader at College of the Mainland (COM), the Director of Continuing Education (CE) advances access to high-quality training that supports career advancement and workforce readiness across the region. The Director of CE provides strategic and operational leadership for the College's open-enrollment continuing education portfolio, overseeing the development, delivery, quality, growth and sustainability of all noncredit courses and programs.
In this role, the Director of CE leads workforce-aligned continuing education offerings that respond to employer demand and community need while advancing the College's mission and strategic priorities. The Director of CE ensures instructional quality, financial sustainability and meaningful learner outcomes across all programs.
Working collaboratively with faculty, staff and campus partners, the Director strengthens connections between noncredit and credit pathways, supports innovation in program design and delivery and promotes a culture focused on access, excellence and continuous improvement.

Minimum Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge of the mission and role of comprehensive Texas community colleges, particularly as it relates to noncredit and workforce education Working knowledge of continuing education program structures including curriculum development, instructional delivery models and scheduling for adult and workforce learners Ability to interpret and apply labor market information, enrollment data and basic competitive information to support program planning and decision-making Knowledge of standard program review and evaluation practices used in higher education to assess enrollment completion and program performance Ability to monitor financial and enrollment data to support cost recovery and program sustainability Knowledge of accreditation, compliance and institutional standards applicable to continuing education and noncredit programs Ability to supervise, support and evaluate instructional and administrative staff in a collaborative environment Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with faculty, administrators, staff and external partners Ability to manage multiple initiatives while maintaining attention to quality, timelines and outcomes Commitment to student access, workforce alignment and continuous improvement in program delivery Preferred Knowledge & Skills

Job Duties
Plan, develop, implement and evaluate open-enrollment continuing education programs aligned with workforce demand, community need and institutional priorities. Ensure continuing education programs support positive student experiences, completion and successful attainment of workforce or educational goals Lead the development and launch of new programs informed by labor market analyses, competitive analyses, feasibility assessments, etc. Oversee curriculum development, instructional delivery, scheduling and instructional standards for all continuing education programs. Recruit, hire, onboard, supervise and evaluate continuing education instructors and instructional staff. Monitor enrollment completion outcomes and financial performance to guide program improvement sustainability and portfolio decisions. Ensure continuing education programs align with credentials of value workforce pathways and noncredit to credit opportunities. Develop and manage the continuing education operating budget including revenue projections, cost recovery and resource allocation. Collaborate with Academic Affairs, Student Services and other integral college divisions/departments along with workforce partners to align continuing education offerings with institutional goals and student success initiatives. Support compliance with accreditation reporting and institutional standards applicable to noncredit and continuing education programs. Represent continuing education in community meetings, advisory committees, employer forums and workforce development activities. Stay informed of labor market trends workforce initiatives and state or federal policy changes, including HB 8, which impacts program planning and funding. Promote a culture of innovation accountability and continuous improvement across all continuing education programs.
