We are hiring a fully remote Level Funded Underwriter for a great insurance organization! This is a direct hire opportunity with benefits
Candidates must be located in Missouri, Texas, Arkansas, Wisconsin, Illinois or Florida
Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 based on prior experience
Key Responsibilities:
Underwrite 6–8 small group cases per day and up to 12 cases per day during Q4 peak season to support new business growth.
Evaluate risk and determine pricing for level funded small group health insurance plans.
Conduct detailed risk reviews, including analysis of claims history, census data, and group demographics.
Utilize database underwriting tools to analyze and assess group risk profiles.
Apply underwriting guidelines and company policies to determine acceptance, pricing, or required adjustments.
Collaborate with sales, account management, and internal teams to support the quoting and proposal process.
Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with underwriting standards and regulatory requirements.
Manage multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining high attention to detail and turnaround expectations.
Required Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in small group health insurance underwriting
Experience underwriting Level Funded small group plans
At least 1 year of experience using database underwriting tools
Strong risk assessment and risk review experience
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (data analysis, formulas, and spreadsheet management)
Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills
Ability to manage a high volume of cases in a fast-paced environment
Schedule
Operating hours: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST
Start time between 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM CST
Employees must maintain a consistent weekly schedule
