
Tax Analyst I

Position Description
Kinder Morgan (KM) is looking for a Tax Analyst I with at least three-four years of tax experience for its partnership income tax group, Kinder Morgan Energy Partners (KMEP). Kinder Morgan is one of the largest energy infrastructure companies in North America. A leading pipeline transportation and energy storage company, KM owns an interest in or operates more than 78,000 miles of pipelines and 136 terminals. Kinder Morgan is also one of the leading providers of CO2 for enhanced oil recovery projects in North America.
KM has over 65 tax professionals working in its Houston office. The Partnership group currently has 16 professionals. No travel will be required.
Job Responsibilities
Prepare federal and state partnership income tax returns.
Prepare tax basis balance sheets for the Partnerships.
Prepare 263A Capitalized Interest and Capitalized Overhead calculations.
Will be responsible to gather relevant data to prepare tax return work papers, analyze tax-sensitive general ledger accounts, calculate and document book‑tax differences.
Work on special projects and tax research as assigned.
Assist with federal and state income tax audits.
Correspond with tax jurisdictions as necessary.
Conduct tax research and provide technical support for tax issues.
Educational Requirements
BBA in Accounting required
Job Requirements
Strong PC skills
Organized, able to manage multiple priorities
Detail oriented, able to meet critical deadlines
Team player
Strong analytical and communication skills
Able to work independently
At least three years of tax experience
Preferred Experience
Knowledge of Thomson OneSource tax preparation software a plus
CPA or master’s degree is a plus but not required
Position may be filled at various levels depending on experience and job skills of the successful candidate
