Summary The Commercial Loan Closer plays an instrumental role in processing and closing commercial and small business loans. This position serves as a liaison between the credit department, loan officers, and attorneys to prepare and close loan files.
Responsibilities
Serve as the main point of contact with loan officers, closing attorneys, and other parties involved in the loan transaction throughout the process of closing.
Build a complete loan file containing all required documentation.
Complete the attorney checklist.
Prepare and maintain the pre‑closing checklist (CIP information verification, government lists).
Order appraisals and environmental studies, complete engagement letters, and process invoices for payment.
Log the engagements of appraisals and environmental studies.
Order flood searches.
Prepare all closing documents.
Scan the loan file after closing.
Maintain the Commercial Loan Application Register.
Complete applicable follow‑up for any document exceptions.
Maintain the file room.
Carry out other tasks and projects as assigned by the AVP, Servicing Manager.
Requirements Education and Certification
High school diploma or equivalent.
Associate’s degree in Business and/or a related field preferred.
Experience and Qualifications
3 years of banking experience.
Experience using LaserPro, and CSI/NuPoint preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with analytical and organizational skills, customer service experience, ability to work independently and as a team.
Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
A good understanding of loan application policies and procedures.
Willingness to become proficient in new technology platforms as implemented by the bank.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Ability to walk up and down stairs.
Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at times.
