Civil Structural Designer

We are seeking a
Structural Designer III
to support the Civil/Structural Engineering team for our client. This role focuses on structural inspections, laser scanning, 3D modeling, and detailed drawing production to ensure structural assets remain safe, compliant, and operational.
The ideal candidate will have strong field inspection experience, technical drafting expertise, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
Perform
laser scan data collection and registration
using tripod-mounted laser scanners to support structural engineers and design staff
Conduct
site inspections and walkdowns
of concrete and steel industrial structures
Classify findings and prepare thorough, timely inspection reports
Develop scopes of work and estimate time requirements for inspection activities
Collaborate with engineering teams to identify and document non-compliant structural and safety items
Create
3D models
and extract
2D drawings
for engineering deliverables and inspection documentation
Develop AutoCAD drawings for steel and concrete structures (industrial/commercial projects)
Prepare layouts, general arrangement drawings, and conceptual designs
Prepare material takeoffs and assist with cost estimates
Coordinate with other disciplines, clients, contractors, suppliers, and construction teams
Required Qualifications
Minimum
5+ years
of experience performing site walkdowns and writing inspection reports
High school diploma or equivalent required
Strong experience in writing technical reports using Microsoft Word
Experience maintaining inspection findings in databases for future retrieval
Experience inspecting structures and/or material handling machinery for:
Damage
Deterioration
Safety compliance
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years designing/detailing
steel and concrete structures
in heavy industrial or power generation facilities
Additional technical training or certifications in
OSHA, MSHA, or structural inspections
Construction and/or fabrication background
