PURVIS has an immediate full‑time position open for a junior Mechanical Designer/Drafter with SolidWorks and AutoCAD experience. The Mechanical Designer/Drafter will be a member of the engineering design/drafting team.
The day‑to‑day responsibilities of this role include:
Support U.S Navy system designs and development
Review government furnished information (GFI) and engineering drawing redlines to incorporate into drawing packages as required
Create, update and maintain mechanical drawing packages using Solidworks and AutoCAD
Drawing packages may include production drawings, circuit card assemblies, parts Lists, schematic diagrams, assembly and test fixture drawings
Develop 3D models by analyzing prototypes and 2D drawings
Ensure drawings comply with standards and practices
Qualifications:
High School Diploma and certificate in drafting
2 - 5 years professional experience
Ability to work independently, while requiring little rework
Ability to review engineering drawings and understand required changes
Proficiency with SolidWorks and AutoCAD required
Experience with SolidWorks PDM is a plus
Experience with Creo, Autodesk Inventor or other 3D packages is a plus
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word
Working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 (GD&T) preferred
Knowledge of existing submarine systems, Military Specifications, and previous defense industry is a plus, but not required
Candidate must be able to obtain a government security clearance to the level of SECRET.
