MXI Partners are searching for a Junior Estimator for one of the fastest-scaling electrical contractors in Northern Virginia. Our client specializes in data center construction, serving as a primary low and medium voltage integrator for hyperscale developers and colocation providers statewide.

What you'll do:

Perform detailed quantity take-offs for electrical systems including switchgear, generators, UPS, bus duct, conduit, and cabling from construction drawings.

Support preparation of competitive electrical bid packages with labor, material, and subcontractor pricing.

Review drawings, specifications, and RFPs to define scope and identify gaps or risks.

Coordinate with vendors and specialty subcontractors to obtain and evaluate pricing.Develop understanding of mission‑critical power systems, redundancy (Tier standards), and data center grounding requirements.

Utilize estimating software (On-Screen Takeoff, Excel, Sage Timberline) to compile take-offs and generate cost reports.

Assist with value engineering and cost‑saving strategies while maintaining reliability standards.

Maintain organized bid documentation and support project handoff to operations upon award.

Who you are:

Minimum 1 year of electrical estimating experience in commercial or industrial construction.

Exposure to data center and/or mission‑critical projects, including familiarity with critical power systems.

Foundational electrical background (field experience, electrical education, or prior work with an electrical contractor).

Basic understanding of electrical distribution systems (switchgear, generators, UPS, feeders, grounding).

Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and RFP documents.

Proficiency in estimating and take‑off software (e.g., On‑Screen Takeoff, Excel, Sage Timberline or similar).
