CD4AP - Fresh Market Coordinator
AmeriCorps, Columbus, OH, United States
Overview
The vision at Community Development for All People (CD4AP) is to build a whole, healthy, and engaged community where All People are empowered to pursue their dreams, experiencing transformation in the abundance of God's love and grace. The mission is to develop deep relationships with our community and partners to create diverse neighborhoods where All People thrive on the South Side and beyond. Programs at CD4AP include the Free Store, Healthy Eating And Living (HEAL) and the Fresh Market, Youth Development, and Thrive to 5. The VISTA member will work closely with the HEAL program director to support the vision and mission of our organization. The VISTA will leverage social media, community partnerships, and volunteers toward these goals.
Member Duties The VISTA member will increase access to fresh food by recruiting, training, and equipping volunteers. Volunteers are essential for the implementation of the Healthy Eating and Living (HEAL) initiative, which emphasizes healthy cooking, physical activities, and mental health. The member will connect with existing programs and the broader community to advertise the Fresh Market, identify resources to create a comprehensive nutrition education curriculum for existing classes and new small groups, and increase access to nutrient‑rich food within a food‑insecure community. The outcome of this work will be to empower people to make healthy choices through education and to boost collaboration across different program areas. Benefits include a monthly $200 housing stipend to supplement living costs.
