The Community Programs & Engagement Coordinator plays a vital role in strengthening Banyan’s place-based work by bringing accessible, responsive community programs to the Banyan service area. This position requires frequent interaction with neighborhood residents, community partners, and local organizations to build relationships, identify needs, and expand collaborative programming that aligns with Banyan’s mission. This role helps design and implement programs, coordinates volunteers, manages Banyan’s community garden, and ensures accurate data collection and reporting across all community initiatives. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including but not limited to: families, neighbors, neighborhood organizations, city and state agencies, etc. Identify and coordinate community-based programs that align with Banyan’s mission Network with local residents and neighborhood organizations to expand programming opportunities which are in line with community needs Plan events and oversee logistics for workshops, resource events, and neighborhood gatherings Promote and attend relevant neighborhood meetings (e.g. neighborhood associations, crime/safety meetings). Meet with community members to identify community needs or concerns and make plans to address them. Connect community residents to Banyan’s programs. In collaboration with Family Coordinator assist in identifying and nurturing potential Block Leaders. Prepare and coordinate content for community newsletter. Community Leadership

Identify and develop ongoing training for new and current Block Leaders. Maintain strong knowledge of resources and services available to residents and provide appropriate referrals when needed Stay informed about local community resources, public benefits, and partner services to effectively support residents Update and maintain a Block Leader manual. Orient, train, and support new Block Leaders. In collaboration with youth program team, provide support to Banyan’s family leadership initiatives as requested. Plan and host monthly community focused programming. Coordinate annual community events including clean sweep, National Night Out, Banyan Family Carnival, etc. Administration

Maintain accurate records for all Block Leaders and community programming attendees. Track program expenses to ensure they do not exceed program budget. Evaluate program results and prepare reports as requested. Complete special projects as assigned. Qualifications:

Associate degree in a human services–related field or a minimum of five (5) years of equivalent education and/or relevant experience required. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English required. Experience in community organizing and/or a strong understanding of community development principles preferred. Demonstrated experience with racial equity, inclusion, and engagement with diverse communities. Strong alignment with and commitment to Banyan’s mission and values. Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with strong written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record required. Ability to lift 20–50 pounds and remain on feet for extended periods of time. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook, with the ability to quickly learn and navigate online applications and data systems. Compensation:

This is an exempt, year-round full-time- 40 hr. position with full benefits (requires day, evening, and occasional weekend hours). Salary range starts at $55,000 annually DOQ.
