
Eastern European Community Engagement Intern

The Eastern European Community Engagement Intern will work with the Eastern European Community Liaison in the Center for Population Health at Clackamas County Public Health Division. In this role, they will work to strengthen relationships with Eastern European faith leaders to improve culturally responsive public health outreach. Relationships with faith leaders, trusted messengers in their communities, will help Clackamas County Public Health reach into Eastern European communities.
Duties
Conduct outreach to community faith leaders Map Eastern European faith-based organizations and maintain a contact list Facilitate interviews using a structured guide and take interview notes Analyze interview data and summarize findings Compile culturally and linguistically appropriate resources Develop recommendations for future engagement activities Learning objectives
Learn about how to respectfully conduct outreach and interviews while practicing active listening and culturally respectful communications Practice qualitative research and analysis Learn about trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches and the social determinants of health impacting Eastern European communities Qualifications
Studying public health, social work, healthcare, social sciences or a related field at an accredited university or college. If you are not sure whether your field of study is considered “related,” please still apply! Knowledge of Eastern European cultures in Oregon Fluent in Russian or Ukrainian and English Interest in public health, community engagement, or social sciences Self-motivated and able to work collaboratively Valid driver’s license. Use of a personal vehicle will be required for this role. Reimbursement for use while conducting business is available in accordance with county policy. Schedule and location
10–15 hours per week (flexible schedule), approximately 120 credit hours Flexible start date (application open until filled) This role will include both remote and in-person work In-person work will occur at Clackamas County Public Health Division’s (CCPHD) offices at 2051 Kaen Road in Oregon City as well as in communities across the county as interviews are conducted.
