Position Description: Under the direction of the Director of Early Education, the Community Engagement Coordinator supports the planning, coordination, and implementation of early learning initiatives that serve families, caregivers, and community partners. This role integrates family programming, partnership coordination, digital engagement and program logistics to expand access to PBS early learning resources across the region.

Working cross‑functionally with Impact and Communications teams, this position coordinates engagement activities, promotes PBS Learning Media and at‑home Nine PBS learning resources, supports digital outreach and manages scheduling and logistical coordination to ensure high‑quality program delivery and measurable impact.

This role is a utility player and will require strong organization, relationship building, and digital communication skills, along with a commitment to family‑centered and equity‑driven engagement practices.

Primary Responsibilities: The following primary responsibilities are vital to successfully meeting the expectations of this position in an effective and efficient manner. This is not an exhaustive list and areas of focus may fluctuate between the primary and secondary responsibilities, as needed.

Family Engagement & Community Partnerships

Plan and organize family events, educational meetings, presentations, and communications specific to and for families.

Coordinate family engagement initiatives across in‑person and digital platforms.

Collaborate with parent leaders, program staff, and community partners to implement family engagement strategies and experiences.

Support engagement and relationship‑building to grow and sustain the network of families served.

Provide resource sharing and support to families using Nine PBS at‑home learning tools.

Program Coordination & Operational Support

Coordinate scheduling and logistics for early education programs, meetings, and partner activities.

Manage calendars, timelines, and coordination of program implementation across teams.

Coordinate event and program preparation, including materials, communication, and follow‑up.

Serve as a primary coordination contact for community partners once activities are scheduled.

Support internal communication and alignment across departments involved in program delivery.

Maintain organized records of activities, contacts, and program documentation.

Digital Engagement & Resource Distribution

Develop and implement digital outreach strategies that connect families and caregivers to PBS early learning resources.

Draft and assemble content for early learning newsletters and email communications.

Work cross‑collaboratively with the Communications team to create content for early learning‑ and education‑focused social media channels.

Help brainstorm and execute interactive ideas to engage digital audiences and highlight Early Education and Impact work.

Capture photos, short videos, and occasional interviews at early education and family events to support storytelling and digital outreach.

Use existing graphic design templates to create simple promotional materials for social media, blogs, newsletters, and program or event promotion.

Research in‑home providers, early childhood educators, and community networks to expand digital resource distribution.

Support strategies to increase awareness and use of PBS educational tools across platforms.

Secondary Responsibilities:

Participate in team meetings, planning sessions, and cross‑departmental collaboration.

Support coordination between Impact and Communications teams to ensure alignment and timely communication.

Provide general project support as needed.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in education, communications, social work, nonprofit management, or related field preferred, or a minimum of 3 years of experience in other related fields.

Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and other MS Office applications.

Experience working closely with community organizations in a professional capacity, preferably related to education.

Experience using Canva, Monday.com, or similar tools.

Familiarity with social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook).

Ability to prioritize, work independently, under pressure, meet deadlines, and take direction.

Ability and willingness to work on a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Travel throughout the St. Louis area using dependable transportation.

Proven ability to handle public and internal interactions with diplomacy and tact without additional supervision.

Hybrid Schedule: This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule in collaboration with their supervisor and other team leads and may vary week to week depending on operational needs. On‑site work includes team meetings, collaborative work activities, and other in‑person events when requested. Due to the responsibilities of this position that require interaction with partners, families, and the general public, some nights and weekends are expected.
