In this role, you will be responsible for the safe mechanical condition of all mowers, utility vehicles, trucks and tractors, and mechanical equipment. Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, and Mechanic III to plan and coordinate repairs, adjustments, and maintenance of all equipment to ensure it’s available for daily use on the golf course. You will report directly to the Golf Course Superintendent.
The ideal candidate will be a team player who strives for excellence with a great attitude and strong work ethic. At least 3 years’ of well‑rounded experience as head golf course mechanic, assistant golf course mechanic and/or related mechanical experience and skilled in the use of a wide variety of equipment repair tools, and the making of various types of mechanical repairs is required.

JOB DETAILS Responsibilities
Adjust, sharpen, and set up reel mowers to ensure proper reel to bed knife adjustment and proper height‑of‑cut on all cutting units.
Troubleshoot, inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment and equipment systems. This includes, but is not limited to, operator and equipment safety switch operation, engine tune‑ups, carburetor adjustments, tire repair. Ensure safe and proper operation of hydraulic, brake, fuel, steering, electrical, and cooling systems.
Repair engine/drive train assemblies, starters, cutting units, roller bearing and seals, carburetors, fuel pumps, hydraulic motors and hoses. Install batteries, tires, and lights.
Daily review of greens mowing equipment.
Prepare for seasonal Agronomy needs with specialty equipment preparations; (verticutting, aerification, over‑seeding, scalping and other Agronomy practices).
Perform occasional welding, machining, and painting.
Follow planned maintenance procedures and record keeping.
Maintain parts inventory necessary to effect equipment repairs.
Record all service repairs on all Desert Mountain paperwork.
Train, educate and mentor Mechanic I employees.
Work with other DM mechanic leaders to obtain skill set for correct Agronomy Equipment standards.
Prepare seasonal equipment for upcoming use.
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Exposed to extreme temperatures and inclement weather – Occasionally
Must tolerate handling of native Sonoran Desert plant material.
Required to stand and walk – Frequently
Required to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to 80 pounds – Frequently
Ability to drive a motor vehicle – Frequently
