Position Vacancy Announcement Florida A&M University's Office of Communications is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the Coordinator, Information/Public Services (Photographer) vacancy.

Responsibilities The photographer is responsible for planning and executing professional photography assignments in support of Florida A&M University’s strategic goals and brand priorities. This position collaborates with communications staff to produce high-quality visual content for use across web, print, social media, marketing materials, publications and institutional communications platforms.

Attend and capture photography at campus events and meetings as assigned; communicate with campus stakeholders to coordinate assignments and logistics; develop creative concepts and shot lists in collaboration with communications staff and stakeholders; edit and prepare images for daily assignments and special projects; and ensure timely preparation and formatting of images for integration into websites, publications and digital platforms.

Manage, archive and maintain digital asset libraries, including cloud-based storage systems and official photo galleries (e.g., PhotoShelter and Getty Images); plan, direct and execute high-quality photography for events, editorial features, campaigns, portraits, athletics, academic initiatives and executive leadership; and produce compelling imagery aligned with University brand standards and strategic priorities.

Provide visual communications guidance to campus partners; research and recommend emerging photography trends, technologies and equipment enhancements; supervise interns, vendors and volunteers related to photography; transport, maintain and safeguard photography equipment on and off campus; utilize industry-standard photography software and digital tools in accordance with higher education marketing best practices; and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in appropriate area of specialization and two years of related experience; or master's degree in appropriate area of specialization. Minimum 3-5 years of professional photography experience.

Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines with accuracy and excellence;

Demonstrated expertise in professional photography;

Knowledge of digital asset management systems and professional software (Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop);

Knowledge of University structure and operations preferred;

Organizational and supervisory skills;

Proficiency in studio and on-location lighting techniques;

Sound judgment and political sensitivity;

Strong photo editing skills and digital workflow management;

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting multimedia or video production environments.

Familiarity with basic video capture or short-form digital storytelling.

Bachelor's degree in photography, visual arts, communications, or an equivalent professional experience.

Pay Plan This is an Administrative and Professional (A&P) position.

This incumbent in this role may work outside of normal business hours based on the needs of the organization and in support of the university president.

Demonstrate active engagement with current visual storytelling trends by maintaining a professional presence on two or more major social media platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, Instagram, X, Facebook) and applying relevant insights to University projects.

Engage in continuous professional development by regularly reviewing industry trade publications, professional websites or related resources and sharing relevant insights during staff meetings.

Lead one to two team-based creative projects per quarter, clearly identifying objectives, audience, messaging strategy and measurable outcomes.

Maintain active participation in at least two professional media or communications associations at the local, regional or national level.

Utilize all departmental communications and project management platforms (e.g., Asana, Design Conductor and related tools) to ensure workflow efficiency, documentation and cross-team collaboration.
