Water heating represents one of the largest sources of energy use and greenhouse gas emissions in buildings. Our technology combines intelligent controls, performance monitoring, and energy storage management to reduce operating costs, lower emissions, and enhance grid reliability.
In addition to advanced control solutions, our platform provides performance monitoring and fault detection through intelligent data analytics. These capabilities enable long-term system performance tracking, diagnostics, and continuous optimization services, extending value beyond initial deployment and supporting sustained operational efficiency.
Our technology development has been supported by funding from the U.S. Department of Energy and the California Energy Commission. We are currently transitioning from R&D to commercial deployment.
Position Summary ZYD Energy is seeking a
Business Development & Marketing Manager
to support the company’s transition from technology development to market growth. This role will focus on developing strategic partnerships, generating new business opportunities, and supporting early-stage sales activities while communicating the value of our technology to key stakeholders across the building decarbonization ecosystem.
As an early-stage startup, this position requires a proactive and versatile professional who can combine business development, marketing, and sales responsibilities. The successful candidate will work closely with company leadership and the product team to drive customer engagement and market adoption of ZYD Energy’s solutions.
Key Responsibilities Business Development & Partnerships
Identify and nurture strategic partners with building decarbonization entities, such as incentive program implementers, ESCOs (Energy Service Companies), utilities, and industry stakeholders
Identify and develop new business opportunities with building owners, developers, ESCOs, MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) firms, and contractors
Refine go-to-market strategies and pricing models
Track market opportunities, customer needs, and emerging trends in building decarbonization and grid-interactive technologies
Identify and qualify prospective customers and partners
Manage the full sales cycle, including lead generation, customer engagement, proposal development, and contract negotiation support
Support the technical team to develop customized solutions and proposals for clients
Marketing & Communications
Design and produce high-impact sales presentations and "pitch decks" that clearly translate complex technical data into compelling business cases
Develop marketing materials including product briefs, technical brochures, case studies, and presentation decks
Develop and execute marketing campaigns to educate multi-family property owners, property managers, and MEP engineers
Manage website content, marketing messaging, and external communications
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, sales, engineering, energy systems, or a related field
3+ years of experience in business development, marketing, sales, or strategic partnerships
Experience in building industry
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to translate technical concepts into clear value propositions
Preferred
Experience working with energy efficiency and building decarbonization programs
Experience with startup or early-stage companies
