Kennedy Jenks is seeking an authentic, strategic communicator to join our Communications team as a Communications Specialist. In this role, you’ll collaborate with marketing, business support, and operations leaders to bring the Kennedy Jenks story to life—internally and externally. This position is ideal for a skilled storyteller who can translate complex, technical concepts into clear, compelling messages that resonate with diverse audiences. Key Responsibilities
Lead and contribute to the planning and execution of strategic communications initiatives
Translate complex, technical concepts into clear, engaging messaging for diverse audiences
Research, write, and publish compelling internal and external content across digital platforms
Develop content across formats, including social captions, intranet stories, press releases, executive communications, and email campaigns
Manage content and logistics for internal in-person, virtual, and hybrid meetings and events
Oversee the weekly all-staff newsletter and maintain fresh, relevant intranet content
Storyboard, script, and develop multimedia content, including videos and podcasts
Review and edit communications drafted by internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with company strategy, culture, and voice
Collaborate with marketing and graphics teams to create engaging multimedia assets
Leverage analytics and reporting to measure effectiveness and make data-informed improvements
Identify opportunities to enhance communication processes, workflows, and cross-functional collaboration
Qualifications
4–6 years of experience creating internal and external communications content
Experience working in the Architectural, Engineering or Construction industry required.
Exceptional writing and storytelling skills (portfolio required; journalistic experience a plus)
Demonstrated ability to distill complex information into clear, meaningful concepts
Experience developing and executing strategic communications plans
Strong project management and organizational skills with attention to detail
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across a remote, cross-functional team
Experience planning and executing in-person, hybrid, and virtual events
Strong understanding of communications trends and best practices
Proficiency in leveraging metrics and analytics to drive decision-making
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools (SharePoint, Stream, Teams)
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud including Adobe Express preferred but not required.
This role can be located in any of KJ’s offices nationwide. KJ supports a healthy work-life balance and utilizes a hybrid model of home and office work to empower our people to thrive and achieve their full potential.
Salary range for this position is anticipated to be $60,000 to $90,000, and may vary based upon education, experience, qualifications, licensure/certifications and geographic location.
