CMD Sales Training Manager Leading the sales training experience for the Consumer Markets Division, the CMD Sales Training Manager shapes and executes state‑of‑the‑art eLearning courses and engaging instructor‑led classes for in‑person and webinar delivery. The role leads a team of Sales Trainers, Instructional Designers and Learning System Administrators, overseeing the design process, project management, and the delivery of live trainings across all sales audiences. The manager partners on needs assessment, design, development, delivery and evaluation, collaborating with sales leaders, stakeholders and instructional designers to create effective onboarding, new‑hire and up‑training curricula across multiple platforms.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Develop staff in both technical and job performance skills, including ADDIE and SAM instructional design methodologies, organizational knowledge, writing and project management skills.
Select and manage resources to support CMD Sales’ strategic initiatives and priorities.
Set clear performance expectations and drive accountability.
Implement the CMD Sales Training team’s vision through managing the execution of a wide variety of initiatives, including training on products, processes, compliance, and technology.
Ensure an effective needs analysis and measurement strategy to evaluate performance and demonstrate training’s impact on employees and business goals.
Optimize processes and ensure effective use of Learning Management System, training tools and department procedures.
Utilize training data to identify trends and areas of impact to program goals.
Consult with business leaders and subject matter experts to assess training needs and learning objectives, recommending solutions.
Partner with Sales Training Manager – Facilitation to define, develop and implement solutions driven to support business needs and learning objectives.
Apply expert level knowledge of adult learning principals and concepts, instructional design theory, learning tools, industry resources and measurement and evaluation methods.
Utilize the Training, Project and Knowledge Management teams and subject matter experts to vet accuracy of content, working positively with all stakeholders to ensure effective outcomes.
Provide guidance to team and external partners on best techniques to improve content stickiness.
Collaborate cross‑functionally to research, create and implement learning and development strategies and initiatives.
Track all ongoing initiatives; fluently communicate each initiative’s objective and status.
Demonstrate ability to manage multiple projects and programs and meet established deadlines.
Define instructional objectives and select appropriate delivery methods to appeal to all adult learning styles.
Write narratives and collaborate with Trainers and Instructional Designers to develop storyboards.
Design and build interactive learning experiences using a variety of training methods and reinforcement strategies (e.g. case studies, stories, small group activities, games, simulations, etc.).
Demonstrate strong awareness of CMD and PL values, incorporating messaging throughout content.
Drive the creation of effective learning solutions, enhancements and maintenance of existing content libraries, including traditional instructor‑led workshops, virtual‑led classroom training and a variety of eLearning solutions.
Evaluate pilots of new courses and adjust prior to launches.
Ensure all documentation follows compliance guidelines for approval, storage and retention.
Stay abreast of and apply best practices around current professional learning standards and trends in training designs.
Promote learning opportunities across CMD teams, generating interest and participation.
Lead Train the Trainer sessions to prepare Trainers for effective learning delivery across all modalities.
Observe programs and courses to ensure learning transfer and application in the field.
Facilitate or co‑facilitate classroom or webinar sessions.
Qualifications
7‑10 years’ experience in a similar role, including training management, facilitation, instructional design and project management.
Demonstrated mastery of adult learning theory, instructional design, classroom facilitation techniques and training evaluation.
Competency with training development and animation tools, including Articulate Storyline, Vyond and Camtasia preferred.
Proven ability to coach, develop and motivate employees.
Excellent writing, communication, project management and presentation skills.
Experience with administration of Learning Management Systems helpful; preferably Cornerstone and Allego.
Comfortable working in an environment of change.
Experience in financial services, life insurance or annuities is not required but a plus.
Willing to travel up to 10% of the time.
FINRA Series 6 required within 6 months of hire.
Base Pay Range $137,610.00 - $168,190.00
