Job Summary Punchbowl News is looking for a
Business Development Associate
to join our growing team. This position plays a critical role in supporting the growth of subscription-based revenue streams, with a strong focus on opportunity generation.
Exceptional customer service and communication skills are essential to this role, as the Associate will interact directly with potential subscribers on a daily basis to initiate evaluations of Punchbowl News’ subscriptions services.
Responsibilities
Analyze and research potential customers to uncover insights that drive effective and personalized outreach.
Build relationships with prospective customers through inbound responses and proactive outbound efforts, including cold calls and emails.
Secure meetings with key decision-makers by delivering tailored, compelling messaging across multiple channels.
Support Subscription Sales Team in providing an exceptional end-to-end customer experience during evaluations.
Accurately document all customer interactions in HubSpot in a timely manner and keep internal stakeholders informed of relevant updates and progress.
Collaborate with the Marketing, Events, and Product teams as necessary to support broader company initiatives and ensure a seamless customer experience.
Qualifications
1-2 years of relevant professional experience.
Proven experience in an outbound sales associate role.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage professionally with a wide range of stakeholders.
Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Prior experience in news media or information subscription services is highly desirable.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while managing multiple priorities.
A strong interest in news, politics, or public policy is a major plus — empathy for users and curiosity about the inner workings of Washington are essential.
The On Target Earnings range for this position is $60,000 to $80,000. Final compensation will be determined based on the role’s scope, as well as the candidate’s experience and relevant skills.
