Position Summary The Director of Housing and Residential Life is responsible for the overall planning, organization, implementation, and supervision of all on‑campus housing and residence life.
The role involves coordinating and supervising all key housing services, overseeing resident selection and assignments, managing resident relations, supervising staff, preparing complex budget and statistical reports, formulating annual budget requests, and monitoring spending.
The director also partners with key university operations, coordinating with Facilities Management, Operations, Housekeeping, Dining Services, Enrollment Services, and the Registrar’s Office.
Responsibilities
Oversee resident selection and assignment processes.
Manage resident relations and address resident concerns.
Supervise housing staff and ensure effective team performance.
Prepare and analyze complex budget and statistical reports.
Formulate annual budget requests and monitor departmental spending.
Coordinate with facilities, dining, and enrollment offices to ensure seamless housing operations.
Develop and manage a facilities project budget in partnership with Facilities Management.
Maintain compliance with state, federal, and university guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong experience in the formation, implementation, and evaluation of effective housing policies and procedures.
Strong background in housing operations, technology, and finances.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in Student Personnel Services or related field.
Five years of related experience, including at least three years of budget management.
Full‑time staff supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Successful background check required.
Record of successful occupancy and budget analysis.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks with confidentiality.
Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
Knowledge of facilities management planning and operations.
Expert knowledge of housing information and technology systems.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Basic accounting knowledge.
Familiarity with principles, regulations, and laws related to housing and judicial affairs.
