POSITION SUMMARY In this role, you will plan, develop, and review mechanical design work, produce drawings and documentation, and prepare estimates for a project. You will coordinate with clients, facilitate technical discussions, and review and approve drawings, calculations and bid summaries. You will solve complex technical issues and ensure mechanical designs comply with all regulations and standards.

Essential Job Functions Plant Layout Designer IV

Works under the supervision of a Project Lead to develop layouts, study drawings, detailed 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design models and construction drawings.

Assist in performing early project design work related to facility layout and equipment general arrangement.

Develops designs for complete and complex engineering systems and components used in mining, materials handling and refining facilities through Project Lead.

Monitors and checks work compliance with approved Mechanical design standards to provide quality design, reliable/safe plant operation and construction economy. Ensures system designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.

Plant Layout Designer III

Able to read and/or provide drafting for Process Flow Diagrams (Flowsheets)

Collaborate effectively with technical staff and project managers to prepare comprehensive project schedules, scopes, and objectives.

Perform early project design work related to facility layout and equipment general arrangement.

Plant Layout Designer II

Provides input to Process Flow Diagrams (Flowsheets)

Develop the capability to navigate 3D models and check for interferences and constructability

Assists with preparation of assigned material requisitions and bid evaluations.

Prepares design and drafting procedures to standardize team efforts and processes.

Plant Layout Designer I

Perform complex design calculations and custom detailing

Develops designs for complete and complex engineering systems and components used in mining, materials handling and refining facilities with minimum supervision.

Attend jobsite visits, as required, to resolve problems and interpret drawings.

Endorses or prepares reports of work progress, as required, for project and discipline use

Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS PER JOB LEVEL

Plant Layout Designer IV – Tech/Trade School

Plant Layout Designer III – Tech/Trade School or equivalent; two (2) years of experience

Plant Layout Designer II – Tech/Trade School or equivalent; four (4) years of experience

Plant Layout Designer I – Tech/Trade School or equivalent; six (6) years of experience

Summary Compensation for this role is determined based on a variety of factors including each candidate’s relevant experience, industry background, education, and demonstrated skills.
