Sales Support Specialist (Customer Accounts & Order Management)

Location: Clarkston, MI Employment Type: Direct Hire Compensation: $2428/hour Schedule: MondayFriday, 8:00 AM5:00 PM (business casual environment) About the Role

We're hiring a Sales Support Specialist to play a critical role supporting a small group of Account Managers and their top customer accounts. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys being the go-to person for customers, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and wants to grow their career in a manufacturing/distributionstyle business. This is not a call-center role. Instead, you'll act as the primary point of contact for customers regarding their orders

owning communication, resolving issues, and ensuring a smooth experience from order entry through delivery. You'll work closely with Sales, Purchasing, Logistics, Inventory, and Manufacturing teams, gaining exposure to how the business operates end-to-end. Serve as a customer advocate, ensuring a high-quality experience for assigned customer accounts Support 23 Account Managers, acting as the main point of contact for their customers' orders Manage a high-volume inbox, responding to 100200+ customer email inquiries per day with professionalism and urgency Analyze and process customer sales orders accurately and efficiently, following detailed work instructions Investigate and resolve issues related to shipping, logistics, inventory availability, manufacturing timelines, and order discrepancies Communicate with internal teams (Sales, Purchasing, Logistics, Inventory, Manufacturing) to keep orders moving and customers informed Proactively manage past-due orders and support month-end reporting activities Monitor customer inventory reports and order status to prevent stock-outs or delays Coordinate freight consolidation and support efforts to reduce shipping costs when possible Issue returns, credits, and debit documentation accurately and in a timely manner Document customer issues and escalate quality concerns as needed Support team members during absences and assist with special projects and process improvements What We're Looking For

2+ years of experience

in customer service, sales support, order management, or operations support Background supporting manufacturing, distribution, inventory, logistics, or supply-chaindriven environments is highly preferred Experience entering and managing customer orders (purchase orders, order confirmations, invoicing, etc.) Comfortable handling high-volume inbound email communication while staying organized and responsive Strong written and verbal communication skills

clear, professional, and customer-focused Confident picking up the phone when it's the most efficient way to resolve an issue (but email is the primary channel) ERP system exposure required (training available on the specific system used) Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Outlook (managing a busy inbox) and Teams This role is not a call-center position; candidates with strictly call-center backgrounds may not be the right fit.
