
Director International Trade

We are looking for a Director International Trade to join our REXEL team - Remote!
Summary The Director of International Trade is responsible for overseeing the Trade Compliance team, ensuring adherence to U.S. export and import regulations, including ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations), EAR (Export Administration Regulations), and customs compliance. This role involves strategic leadership, team management, and the development of compliance programs to support business objectives. The Director will work closely with various departments to enhance international sales while maintaining compliance and mitigating risks associated with trade activities.
What You’ll Do
Maintain trade compliance policies and procedures to ensure adherence to U.S. export and import regulations
Oversee the classification of imported and exported goods, including, but not limited to, ensuring proper tariff codes, management of import and export documentation process
Identify potential compliance risks related to both export and import activities and develop strategies to mitigate them
Analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the Trade Compliance team and report on compliance metrics to senior management
Manage relationships with external trade consultants and regulatory agencies, negotiate contracts and ensure effective communication
Manage the organization’s registration and compliance with SAM.gov, ensuring timely updates and renewals
Develop and implement compliance strategies and policies to ensure adherence to U.S. Government regulations and corporate standards
Work closely with legal, commercial sales team, procurement, and operational teams to ensure compliance is integrated into business processes
Serve as the primary point of contact for trade compliance inquiries from internal and external stakeholders
Partner closely with the commercial sales team on international pursuit opportunities, proactively advising on product classification, licensing strategies, and transaction structure to enable compliant revenue growth.

Qualifications What You’ll Need
7+ years of experience in trade compliance, with a focus on import/export regulations and government contracting
Experience with SAM.gov and government contracting processes
4 Year / Bachelor’s Degree - Required
Graduate Degree - Preferred
Business, Law, International Relations, or a related field
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate on all levels within internal and external groups
Strong understanding of U.S. export and import regulations and compliance requirements
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Highly organized with the ability to manage tasks, multitask, and complete tasks within allotted timeline
Detail oriented
Knowledge of Microsoft Tools (PowerPoint, Teams, Excel, Word)
Critical thinking skills

Sit: Must be able to remain in a stationary position – Constantly – at least 51%
Walk: Must be able to move about inside/outside office or work location – Occasionally – up to 20%
