R13945The Office of National and International Fellowships (ONIF) within Research and Academic Engagement (RAE) serves as the centralized, university-wide support for students seeking to apply to national and international scholarships, fellowships, and awards. The goal of ONIF is to empower students and alumni to pursue prestigious national and international fellowships as a transformative part of their academic and personal journey.

The Associate Director of National and International Fellowships within ONIF coordinates the university-wide effort to counsel, mentor, and prepare students who are interested in prestigious national and international scholarships, fellowships and awards, as well as assists students through the application processes. In addition, the Associate Director works with faculty to provide leadership campuswide in developing programs to mentor and prepare interested students through the Graduate School application process. The Associate Director reports to the Assistant Vice Provost for Student Research, Learning, and Innovation.**Position Specific Accountabilities*** Provide campuswide leadership for LMU’s scholarship and fellowship operation, including management of the application process and requirements, developing criteria and timelines for each program, and guiding students, faculty advisors, and recommenders through the various application processes.* Develop and lead the National and International Fellows Council, consisting of faculty committees who oversee the various scholarships and awards opportunities.* Work with university partners across campus to introduce students to fellowship and scholarship opportunities. Partner with programs to develop international internships, undergraduate research and service opportunities abroad. Collaborate with university partners for wraparound programs, workshops, and support as applicable.* Work closely with faculty, staff, and administrators across the campus to identify, recruit, prepare, and select applicants for graduate school opportunities and a range of competitive scholarships and awards.* Assist in assessment for and research on ONIF application processes. Assist in the creation and dissemination of year-end reports.* Plan and monitor ONIF budget and expenditures.* Teach at least one Research Learning Community (RLC) section a year for RAE.* Work with the Deans’ offices, including the Colleges/Schools Council of Chairs, to promote international and national scholarship opportunities and graduate school. Develop newsletters, media, publicity, and web content for ONIF programs and opportunities. Responsible for advertising programs to students and faculty. Create strategies to increase and support program enrollment.* Manage day to day office operations.* Represent LMU and RAE at campus events, within the greater LMU community and at professional organizations or associations, serve on committees as required.* Perform other duties as assigned or requested.**Loyola Marymount University Expectations**Exhibit behavior that supports the mission, vision, and values of the University. Demonstrate a commitment to outstanding customer service and the LMU mission.**Requisite Qualifications*** Typically, a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience. A Master's Degree is preferred. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes.* Minimum three years academic experience, with preference given to those who have worked in a liberal arts college setting. Previous experience serving as an academic advisor, including familiarity with college student development, and the career development process. Experience working with high achieving students is essential.* Demonstrated knowledge of the application process to domestic and international graduate and professional school programs is preferred.* Experience working with interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary faculty groups. Demonstrated experience working with diverse student groups as program administrator or participant), or comparable programs.* Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to multi-task to meet campus deadlines. Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and possess strong interpersonal skills.* Evidence of ability to work effectively with diverse groups including students, faculty, administration, and staff.* Experience in situations requiring keen judgment and discretion. Experience with project and budget coordination is essential.* Experience with program planning, implementation, evaluation, and sustainability preferred. Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by background in preparing comprehensive reports and executive summaries incorporating complex, highly technical information.* Demonstrated computer competency.*The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
