Please review the following job description: Supports Underwriter with all job functions and often performs some duties on behalf of the Underwriter. Underwrites new and renewal business, approves policy changes, maintains workload and controls written business up to and including the time of binding according to company guidelines and established Starwind procedures without direct supervision on each item.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop, cultivate and maintain relationships with appointed wholesale brokers.
Market all company products and services to clients.
Underwrite new and renewal business after a limited training period without direct supervision.
Is an important asset of the underwriter to meet and exceed production goals as assigned by Management.
Monitor accounts to ensure appropriate documentation and compliance with company's policies and procedures.
Conduct Underwriting and Rating independently relying on technological tools and training provided by management.
Review and process policy servicing requests (endorsement, audits, capacity requests, and Cancellations, etc).
Review inspection reports and compare to the conditions that were represented to the company at the time of binding and take appropriate or needed actions with the broker.
Proof policies, endorsements, audits, cancellations, etc and make corrections as appropriate. Provide necessary instruction to Underwriting Assistants and Technical Assistants to maintain divisional turnaround time standards.
QUALIFICATIONS Required Qualifications:
College degree or appropriate insurance experience
Three years of wholesale insurance experience or its equivalent; current state specific license required
Must commit a minimum of three years to the Program
Ability to understand and analyze necessary components of insurance policies
Knowledge of commercial multi-line underwriting and rating
Ability to use company automation to include Windows, Microsoft Office, ImageRight, AIM and other web-based company applications.
Ability to develop, foster, and maintain an excellent working relationship with wholesale broker clients
Ability to work in a team environment is essential
Ability to maintain current knowledge of the insurance industry including key competitors in our space and their capabilities
Good written and verbal skills
Ability to navigate social environments and sales situations
Openness to AI integration into Underwriting Process
The annual base salary for this position is $60,000 - $80,000.
Additional incentive pay is available for this position.
