Job Description and Position Requirements The Pennsylvania State University (PSU) – University Park is looking for a talented Association of College and University Housing Officers - International (ACUHO‑I) Intern to join our Summer Residence Life team! PSU Residence Life is looking for candidates who are passionate about Residence Life and Student Affairs, and are willing to learn more about both areas. As a Penn State Residence Life ACUHO‑I Intern, you will take on a Coordinator role and supervise your own staff of Resident Assistants (RAs) with assistance from the Summer School team. You will report directly to a Residence Life Coordinator and work closely with campus partners, Residence Life Coordinators, Assistant Directors, the Associate Director, and student leaders, including Resident Assistants (RAs). Your responsibilities may include supervision, student leader development, community engagement, student accountability, and assistance in larger department projects as needed.
Supervision and Student Leader Development The ACUHO‑I Intern will hold weekly one‑on‑one meetings with RAs, facilitate staff meetings, coach resident assistants to support their success, help develop training programs, and participate in educational training presentations.
Community Engagement The ACUHO‑I Intern will create and implement engaging community programs that align with our residential curriculum approach. Programs will include large‑scale events as well as small community connection events, and the Intern will also create and disseminate educational marketing materials through digital and print means on a weekly basis.
Student Accountability The ACUHO‑I Intern will participate in the Office of Student Accountability and Conflict Response process by engaging in reflective and restorative conversations with students and supporting proactive community education efforts.
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a graduate program
Demonstrate maturity, flexibility, and knowledge of Residence Life and/or Student Affairs
Ready to learn and develop through the experience; bring your passions and interests
Must apply through the ACUHO‑I website for minimum qualification in addition to completing the online application.
Background Checks and Clearances Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.
Campus Security Crime Statistics Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR).
