Position Summary This is a strategic sales position that requires an in-depth knowledge of how technology is used to enable business goals or overcome business challenges. The role involves strategic thinking and planning coupled with tactical execution of identified business opportunities. The incumbent will manage all facets of the relationship with large key accounts of significant strategic importance to the organization while ensuring revenue goals are met. The position requires building and maintaining relationships at all levels, developing opportunities across the F5 solution portfolio, and partnering effectively with Systems Integrators, Service Providers, and VARs.

Responsibilities

The role will be based in Johannesburg but focus on major accounts within Nigeria and Ghana.

You will be the primary point-of-contact for these major accounts regardless of account’s geographic location, maintaining executive-level contact and focusing on the strategic nature of the relationship.

Sell the organization’s products or services to and maintain relationships with existing accounts, expanding and retaining named accounts while ensuring ongoing customer service.

Identify and qualify long‑term and short‑term business opportunities, proactively addressing competitive threats.

Prepare formal proposals and presentations, lead negotiations, coordinate complex decision‑making processes, and close sales professionally and effectively.

Manage and develop significant key partner relationships, facilitating executive-level communications between the customer, F5, and its partners.

Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of industry trends, technical developments, and government regulations that affect target markets.

Understand the organization’s business needs, develop application of products and services, and communicate how F5’s technical value‑added solutions address those needs.

Research and develop lists of potential customers within an organization, regularly following up on leads and acting to close deals.

Determine market strategies and goals for each product and service, understanding the strategies, goals, and objectives of named accounts.

Assume a leadership role in coordinating account strategy and tactics for the sales support team (inside sales, systems engineering, sales management).

Take full responsibility for accurate sales forecasting, demonstrating in‑depth knowledge of sales cycles from initial contact through procurement, and ensuring SalesForce is utilized appropriately and maintained regularly.

Develop and maintain detailed account profiles, including organizational charts for all accounts, to be reviewed by management quarterly.

Develop strategy for sustained management and success of business and coordinate resources to ensure goals are met.

Provide regular updates to senior sales and operations staff concerning account issues and financial status.

Meet and exceed sales quotas and revenue goals.

May be a team leader and provide leadership to the sales team focused on the strategic global or national account(s).

Be considered a trusted resource by the customer base and an expert in the field.

Have credibility to influence at senior levels within named accounts (e.g., Senior Executive/Board/Chair).

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Significant direct work experience in a relevant customer set.

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Specialized knowledge in networking products, preferably those of F5.

Experience with Internet‑related software or systems.

Excellent negotiation and closing skills.

Excellent solution‑selling and presentation abilities.

Excellent client interfacing and customer‑focused approach.

Ability to provide and work from a home office located within the territory.

Physical Demands and Work Environment Job may be performed on‑site at a customer facility or data centre, or in an office environment sitting at a desk or computer table. Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material. Duties require the ability to travel up to 60% via automobile and airplane, and may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
