LOCATION

This is a hybrid role located in Pleasanton, CA.

SUMMARY

The Director of FP&A will be a key leader in the Finance organization, responsible for driving the company’s planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis processes. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep analytical skills and the ability to partner with executive leadership across all departments. The Director of FP&A will report to the CFO and manage financial analysts, process, and systems.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Planning and Financial Modeling

Lead the annual budgeting process and long-range financial planning.

Develop and maintain complex financial models to support strategic initiatives, investment decisions, and capital allocation.

Present financial forecasts and results to the Executive team and Board of Directors.

Performance Management and Reporting

Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial performance reports, including variance analysis against budget and prior periods.

Drive continuous improvement in financial reporting and analysis processes.

Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure business health and operational efficiency.

Business Partnership

Act as a strategic finance partner to departmental heads (e.g., Sales, Marketing, Operations) to provide financial insights and decision support.

Evaluate new business proposals, product launches, and strategic investments from a financial perspective.

Ensure alignment between financial targets and operational plans.

Leadership and Team Development

Manage, mentor, and develop the FP&A process/team, fostering a culture of high performance, accuracy, and professional growth.

Recruit and onboard new talent as needed.

Coordinate with the Accounting team to ensure accurate financial closing and reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; an MBA or CPA is preferred.

Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in FP&A, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.

Experience in the MedTech industry is a plus.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Strategic Thinking

- Ability to translate complex financial data into strategic business recommendations.

Technical Proficiency

- Advanced financial modeling, Google suite and Microsoft Excel skills; proficiency with ERP and analysis systems (e.g. NetSuite, SFDC, PowerBI) is required; proficiency with an FP&A system (e.g., Anaplan, Hyperion) is an added benefit.

Communication

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly to non-finance audiences.

Leadership

- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team.

Attention to detail

- Exceptional accuracy and focus on data integrity.
