Position Summary Aeon is seeking a Leasing Agent to join the team at East Village, a 180-unit apartment community located in the Elliot Park neighborhood of South Minneapolis.
This role is highly sales-oriented and ideal for someone who is motivated by goals and enjoys building relationships with prospective residents. The Leasing Agent plays a key role in connecting people to housing by guiding applicants through the leasing process and helping maintain high occupancy at the community.
The Leasing Agent reports to the Property Manager.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of apartment availability, rental rates, and community features.
Greet prospective residents and learn about their housing needs and preferences.
Provide information about the community, including amenities, floor plans, and application requirements.
Conduct property tours, including model apartments, available homes, and shared amenities.
Follow established policies and procedures when qualifying, screening, and approving applicants.
Maintain accurate prospect and leasing records in guest cards and property management software.
Follow up with prospective residents within 48 hours of a showing if a lease has not yet been signed.
Support the community's lease renewal program and help maximize resident retention.
Prepare and process lease documents accurately and in a timely manner.
Explain lease terms and ensure all documentation is complete prior to move-in.
Prepare property information and resident move-in packets.
Assist with day-to-day leasing office operations.
Coordinate with the Property Manager and Assistant Property Manager to ensure apartments are ready for move-in.
Complete required staff trainings.
Maintain confidentiality of resident and organizational information.
Remain flexible and adaptable in a changing work environment.
Follow basic safety and housekeeping practices.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience in property management, leasing, or real estate is preferred.
At least one year of sales experience strongly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to close sales and meet performance goals.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to create a welcoming environment for prospective residents.
Proven ability to work well with people and create a comfortable environment.
Ability to engage in interpersonal communication that is culturally responsive, ensuring consideration for differing needs and expectations.
Commitment to learning about and participating in Aeon's diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
Basic understanding of accounting practices.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Resourceful, solutions-oriented, and committed to high-quality work.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 10lbs.
Ability to reach above and below the shoulder height.
Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
Ability to conduct property tours and inspections: Includes walking through hallways, stairwells, leasing offices, common areas, and vacant or occupied apartment homes. This may involve navigating multiple floors and uneven surfaces.
Ability to file documents and enter data for extended periods.
Ability to work in varying external weather conditions.
Compensation, Hours & Location This position pays $19 per hour plus commissions and offers an impressive benefit package that includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, retirement plan, generous paid time off and an employee assistance program.
This is a full-time position, scheduled for 40 hours per week. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday during daytime hours, typically 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with rotating Saturdays as needed.
This is an in-person position and will office mostly out of their currently assigned properties. Occasional work at Aeon's Central Office, training facilities and other properties will occur from time to time.
