Cost Estimator
Prepare cost estimates for projects to aid in bidding and determining the price of products and services. Responsibilities include: Estimating all costs of projects, including raw materials, labor, equipment, tools, and transportation. Researching materials, sourcing options, labor, and permit costs for a given project. Collecting, classifying, and analyzing historical data. Reading blueprints or architectural drawings to determine necessary resources for projects within budgetary constraints. Determining necessary resources for projects based on cost estimates and budgetary constraints. Performing bid sheet preparation (Excel), soliciting subcontractor proposals and advertisements as needed, take-offs, and attending pre-bid walks. Identifying qualified subcontractors/suppliers. Reviewing quotes for completeness with plans and specifications. Assisting with timely completion of all client-required prequal packages. Reviewing subcontractor proposals before contract issuance for complete work scopes. Assisting field personnel with estimating Change Orders, RFPs, and clarification of RFIs. Assisting with the preparation of budgets and buy-outs. Requirements include: Experience in the mechanical field (10+ years preferred). Ability to perform basic to advanced mathematics required for estimating. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and/or engineering design drawings. Ability to learn and easily be trained on the Estimating Model. Experience in Excel and Word. Must have computer experience. Must be able to pass a hair follicle drug test. Some sites may require a TWIC card. Climbing multiple flights of stairs without assistance. Work Setting: Primarily indoors with environmental controls. Some job walks on client sites may be required. These walks may be indoors or outdoors.
