Position Summary A rapidly growing power equipment manufacturer is seeking a
Technical Sales Engineer with direct power transformer experience
to drive strategic growth across utility, industrial, and energy markets. This role is ideal for candidates coming from
transformer OEMs or major power equipment manufacturers
who want to leverage their technical expertise in a fast-moving, customer-focused environment.
The Technical Sales Engineer will serve as the
primary technical interface between customers, engineering, and manufacturing , supporting complex transformer projects from initial inquiry through proposal development and order execution. This role requires a deep understanding of
power transformer applications, specifications, and electrical infrastructure
combined with strong commercial instincts.
This position is
based in the Easley/Greenville, SC area
and offers the opportunity to play a key role in expanding market presence within the power delivery and grid infrastructure sector.
Key Responsibilities Technical Sales Leadership Drive sales of
power transformers and related engineered solutions
to utilities, industrial facilities, EPC firms, and renewable energy developers.
Identify and develop new opportunities for
transformer replacements, upgrades, and engineered solutions .
Serve as a
technical advisor to customers , assisting with equipment selection, specifications, and system requirements.
Proposal & Bid Development Lead development of
technical and commercial proposals
for medium and large transformer projects.
Interpret customer specifications and collaborate with internal engineering teams to deliver compliant, competitive solutions.
Support contract negotiations and ensure accurate project handoffs to engineering and operations.
Maintain strong relationships with
utility engineers, procurement teams, EPC contractors, and industrial customers .
Provide technical presentations and product expertise during customer meetings.
Support project discussions involving
transformer ratings, cooling systems, testing requirements, and application design .
Strategic Growth Expand relationships with key customers and industry partners.
Identify market trends and emerging opportunities in
power transmission, grid modernization, renewable energy, and industrial power systems .
Contribute to strategic sales planning and pipeline development.
Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in
Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline .
5+ years of experience in the power transformer industry , ideally with a
transformer OEM or major power equipment manufacturer .
Demonstrated experience in
technical sales, applications engineering, or project engineering for power transformers .
Strong knowledge of:
Power transformer design and construction
Utility and industrial power systems
Transformer specifications and procurement processes
Ability to interpret
customer specifications, drawings, and electrical system requirements
Preferred Experience
Background working with
large power transformer manufacturers or substation equipment providers .
Familiarity with
IEEE, ANSI, and IEC transformer standards .
Experience supporting
utility transmission and distribution projects, data centers, or renewable energy facilities .
Key Skills

Cross-functional coordination with engineering and manufacturing
Travel Requirements Minimal travel (approximately 5–10%) , primarily for occasional customer meetings or industry events.
