South Central Power Company, Ohio’s largest electric cooperative, is seeking an individual to fill the position of
Director of Accounting .
This position provides leadership and direction for functions related to the Cooperative’s accounting department. The position is responsible to ensure the proper utilization and internal control of the cooperative’s assets; to ensure that all cooperative records are maintained in accordance with sound accounting procedures and principals and meet all requirements set forth in the R.U.S. Uniform System of Accounts; to ensure that accurate, adequate and timely statistical information is produced for use in cooperative management; and to ensure adequate and economically prudent financing of cooperative’s expenditures. The successful candidate will have strong leadership experience that fosters a culture of coaching, team building, and development of staff.
The position will work out of our Lancaster, Ohio office and report to the Chief Financial Officer. Direct reports include a staff of three with an additional three indirect reports.
Job Related Qualifications What the job requires:
Candidates will hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting. A CPA license is required.
At least seven years of progressively responsible accounting positions. At least two of these years should include management and supervisory responsibility. Experience in a utility or related organization is preferred.
Must possess a working knowledge of accounting principles, investments, cash management, RUS accounting, and basic purchasing procedures. Knowledge of basic auditing principles and practices is desirable.
Excellent organizational and follow-through skills. Highly motivated, detail oriented and organized. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and verbal and written communication skills. Ability to identify areas of risk and inefficiency and determine process improvement opportunities to address such risk and inefficiency.
Excellent interpersonal skills to establish and maintain collaborative work relationships at all levels within the Company.
