
Proposal Manager

R&M is looking for a team-oriented Proposal Manager to support and eventually lead, firmwide proposals and pursuits.
As a member of the R&M Marketing and Communications team, the Proposal Manager will provide exemplary personalized service to our internal clients – the Engineering, Earth Sciences, Geomatics, Construction Services and Planning Departments within R&M. The Proposal Manager will work with other marketing, communications and graphic design professionals to support the marketing and communications goals of each Department in alignment with the firm’s mission, vision, core values and strategic plan.
This is an on-site position.
The Proposal Manager will be expected to actively participate and represent R&M in professional organizations and community activities. The Proposal Manager will report to the Chief Marketing & Administrative Officer.
On Any Given Day
On a typical day, the Proposal Manager will: Monitor data sources for upcoming projects and advertised RFPs (STIP, commercial services, Alaska Public Notices, sam.gov, etc.). Review RFPs to identify which disciplines should be included in Go/No-Go decisions. Schedule and attend Go/No-Go meetings. Assist in developing capture and pursuit plans. Coordinate with technical seller-doers to schedule and maintain interactions with clients related to specific pursuits. Maintain scheduling and tracking systems for individual pursuit and proposal elements and status. Work collaboratively with marketing and communications team members to assign specific proposal efforts based on areas of expertise and workload. Manage and work collaboratively with multi-discipline teams to develop outlines and RFIs, develop win strategies and proposal messaging that tell the R&M story, gather required content and produce compliant proposal documents. Facilitate collection and entry of data into CRM and DAM systems to support marketing efforts. Prepare staff resumes to support project pursuits. Maintain relationships with strategic teaming partners that facilitate collaboration on teaming opportunities. Request and analyze post-award debrief information. Track pursuit statistics and prepare annual statistical report. The Proposal Manager may also: Assist with development of content for firm intranet, social media and website in collaboration with R&M’s Communications Manager. Assist with special and community events, such as the firm’s annual golf tournament, special event booths and firm volunteer events. Minimum Qualifications
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or a related field, a minimum of five years of general marketing experience, and previous experience writing proposals in the A/E/C industry. The successful candidate should be able to work in a collaborative team environment, but also be able to work independently. Ability to effectively manage time, including prioritizing tasks and handling multiple assignments is critical. Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must, as are technical editing skills and attention to detail. The successful candidate will be able to effectively interact, communicate and build positive relationships with others through empathy, active listening and collaboration. Applicants should be skilled in Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and Adobe (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat) software. Experience with WordPress and A/E/C industry‑specific CRM, DAM and AI systems is a plus. The successful candidate will be expected to actively participate in the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) and if not already a Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM), will be expected to work towards certification.
