Director of Business Services

Summerville Elementary School District is seeking a Director of Business Services to serve as the senior financial advisor to the Superintendent. This full‑time, 260‑day management position oversees the District’s Business Office and Cafeteria operations. The Director is responsible for maintaining the District’s long‑term solvency through strategic financial planning and attendance at meetings of the Governing Board.

The primary scope of this role includes the preparation and monitoring of the District budget, multi‑year cost projections, and continuous cash flow analysis. Essential functions involve managing state and federal grant applications (including LCAP and Title programs), overseeing purchasing and vendor contracts, and administering the District’s insurance and benefits programs. Additionally, the Director acts as the primary fiscal liaison between the District and the County Office of Education, state agencies, and external auditors.

Qualified candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business and at least three years of experience in a school business setting (preferred). Proficiency with SACS, LCFF, and educational accounting software is required, along with a deep understanding of GAAP and collective bargaining fiscal impacts. Education Background and Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in accounting/business or in fields related to the position preferred, and a minimum of 3 years of experience in a school business setting preferred.

Possess knowledge of school business and fiscal services, including budget development, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, auditing, collective bargaining, purchasing, contracts, bidding procedures, child nutrition, facilities maintenance, transportation, risk management, and State Schools Facility Funding procedures.

Knowledge of QSS/QCC, SACS and other educational software and spreadsheet programs.

Familiarity with the LCFF and LCAP.

Extensive experience in accounting, statistics, office management principles, methods, and procedures.
